Tucked away in the Ramapo Mountains on a perch overlooking the Hudson, Patriot Hills Golf Club in Stony Point feels far but it’s conveniently only an hour’s drive from the city. The golf course tumbles across dramatically rolling hills, providing views that span the Hudson Valley. Don’t let the 6,485 yards on the scorecard fool you, the daunting elevation changes make the course feel much longer. Walkers should be forewarned that this mountainous golf course is nearly impossible on foot. You can expect a few approaches to uphill greens but more often you’ll be faced with intimidating shots from elevated tees, which loom more than 200 feet above the severely contoured fairways below. The Patriot Hills layout is a formidable test but players of any skill level can appreciate the meticulous care that went into crafting each hole.

Great daily fee course
The staff was super friendly. The course was in good shape. I had a morning tee time but the bar looks like it’d be a lot of fun with air hockey and ax throwing. $77 weekday seemed a bit steep but it’s not like there is much cheaper nearby. I’ve only played here 2-3 times over the past years but I would go again.

I arrived just a few minutes before my tee time and expected to be chastised but instead they were so nice and accommodating. Beautiful round.

Great track
Beautiful course in great shape! Hole positions are extremely brutal and hurts the pace of play as most amateurs will spend an extra 5 minutes per group, per hole around the greens. Make it more fun with better pin positions, it will speed play and make the round more enjoyable.
Golf paradise
The cool mountain breeze cooled the sweat on my forehead, and the incredibly beautiful scenery made me exclaim in admiration at every hole.

Everyone in our group was a bit surprised about the great layout and excellent maintenance of this hidden gem.
Consistent
Played Friday at 830 with no one in front of us for the entire round , this course is in good condition T to G , one thing here is course u can count on , good work being done keeping course in this shape , thx always !
Needs work
Patriot Hills is one of my favorite courses in the NYC area, and I've been playing it for 15 years give or take. While most of the rating factors are excellent, the two most important -- pace of play and course conditions, need serious attention. Our round was 5+ hours because we were behind a group that was playing oft the Blue tees and should have been on the Reds. We had to wait an average of 5 minutes at nearly every hole for the group to clear. On the maintenance front, the tee boxes, fairways and greens are in terrific condition, but -- and this is a big but, the sand traps are a mess -- many dirty and full of stones. (I only know this because I had the misfortune of being in a dozen or so of them during my round.0 For a course of this potential caliber, management needs to enforce pace of play and maintain the entirely of the house, including the bunkers. Until they do, the best I can give them is 3 stars and that's being generous.
