Raven's Claw Golf Club
About
Located in Limerick Township, Raven's Claw Golf Club is one of southeastern Pennsylvania's best golf and residential communities. It consistently ranks as one of the state's top 10. Carved from rolling hills and mature woodlands, the layout features a variety of different holes. No two holes are alike but they require some creative shot-making abilities. With tight fairways and undulating greens bordered by mounds of rough, the golf course also demands accuracy. The design incorporates links-style elements that present a formidable test. The golf course is undoubtedly challenging but there are also recovery opportunities on each hole, which makes it less daunting for beginners. One of Raven's Claw Golf Club's most memorable holes is the tricky penultimate hole. This unforgiving par-3 has a double-tiered, undulating green with no bailout areas to the left or right. Golfers that hit it short will face a blind second shot.

WELL ABOVE AVERAGE IN ALL RESPECTS
WE WERE TOLD THE COURSE WAS IN GOOD CONDITION AND WE WEREN'T DISAPPOINTED. EVEN THOUGH IT'S A ONE HOUR DRIVE, WE'LL RETURN AND PASS THE WORD ABOUT THE COURSE.
The course is challenging and very well maintained.
The course itself is excellent but the cart paths are in poor condition. Maybe Hole #17 can be rearranged to be a short par four. I find the distance and the narrowness of the fairway as it is maybe to challenging for the common golfer.
Some of the Best Public Golf Around
Challenging, long, and windy on many days, this course is a challenge for the intermediate/low handicapper. Nicest staff around! Top notch public golf. Highly recommended!
Loved the lay out of the course.
We played the course on Saturday after the hurricane and the course was in great shape for early in November. No 2 holes on the course are similar which makes you think about each tee shot. Loved it and will play it again.
good course, friendly staff
very good conditions, 4 hr round challenging course. would definitely play again
Hills & bundkers
Par 3 200 is a handfull. overall it the hazards were placed perfect and challenged course management
A Very Good Course
This place is always well-maintained, with generous fairways, large greens, and 3 sets of men's tees to choose from. You'll see houses everywhere since it's a golf community, but fortunately most of them are out of play. Agree with another reviewer on the need for paved cart paths.
Some notable holes:
* Hole #9 - A good tee shot is required for a good angle on the approach shot with a green 30 yards above the fairway
* Hole #10 - A par 5 hole with a fairway bunker about 100 yards in front of the green calls from some creative or strategic shot making
* Hole #11 - This is target golf. You only have a 25 yard x 50 yard landing area off a 200 yard drive. Anything else is trouble. And if you do land it there, you got a 150 - 175 yard uphill shot with not much room for error.
* Hole #14 - A pretty and short par 3
* Hole #17 - Probably the longest par 3 in the state. It measures 242 yd from the black tees, 228 yd from the blues, and 210 from the whites.
* Hole #18 - Good finishing hole. A 150 yard carry is required off the tee. You may hit a conservative straight shot aimed at the club house, or play a fade to get closer to the green, or play aggressively with a fancy draw around a tree for the closest approach shot.
One of the best in the area
Would recommend to everyone. Requires shot making which is a good challenge
one of the better publics in the Philly area
played 3 rounds at Ravens Claw this year.. Its always a strong challenge and the back 9 will give you some holes that will make par a very difficult proposition. For the top player.. the 10th hole is one of the longest par 5's you'll ever play.. 640 yds from the tips along with an uphill tee shot.. Blue tees are 100 yds shorter on that hole.. The 11th hole is a par 4 that can ruin your score quickly.. You've got to fit a perfectly accurate 225 yd shot to a very narrow angled fairway.. If you miss, you have no chance to reach in 2.. and will be lucky to avoid a double bogey.. The 17th is a terror of a par 3.. Its 240 yds through a chute to a well trapped green.. A 4 here feels like a par.. The staff is great here...and they will give you a frequent player card that will be swiped when you play even when using golfnow.com.. 10th round is free if you like going back to one place often..
Very nice layout. Pleasure to play.
Enjoyed the experience. Very good condition. The staff is very friendly. The course design is excellent for all levels based on the tees played. I will be playing again soon.
good value
very good value, some very challenging holes, varied layout
Solid Golf Course
On the weekends, it can be a chore to get around this golf course as the tee times are fairly close together and golfers are constantly searching for their golf balls in the thick rough. Further, if you are behind someone who cannot consistently drive the ball, it could be a five to six hour round.
Overall the course poses a significant challenge from the blacks and the blues. It is well maintained and the staff is friendly. One of the better public courses in the area, fairly comparable to Lederach.
challenging
This was a fairly challenging course, however, very enjoyable experience. There are many doglegs and hills which add a more difficult aspect to the course. The greens were very well maintained and super fast!
very good layout, with some challlenging holes
course needs rangers to keep pace of play moving. too much waiting between shots and holes.
Course & greens in great shape
First time playing this course, I was on vacation visitng my brother and booked this online, we were the first to tee off. We finished our round in 3 hours. The only thing teeing off so early is that the maintenance crew was on every hole with us on the tee box and on the fairway. The clubhouse was the only restroom, so you would have to drive back to the clubhouse when you make the turn which could hold you up, not sure if they added a portable one but they need to. Other than that the course was in great shape, the course design was challenging especially when playing for the first time and the greens were in great shape. The Marshall was very nice and very organized. I will definitely make a return visit there when I am back in town.
Fun, interesting, challenging
Fun, interesting, challenging. Decent to good conditioning. Easy access from Route 422. Played it five times now.
Decent Course
I've played this course a few times this year (2012), it's a pretty good course, especially for the money (I paid $48 at 9am on a weekday). I personally think it's a little overrated, have never seen a beverage cart on the course when I've been there, course plays very narrow (not much room to miss fairways), and some tee box set ups are on crowns or at angles that put the players at a real disadvantage to score well.
Love this course
This is a challenging course in great shape. It is another good place to use Golfnow because of the price and the great deals.
variety of holes with degrees of difficulty
really enjoy the layout of the course. many challenging holes require quality shots to make par. greens were in very good shape and had many slopes. navigating the course was a bit easier the 2nd time as there are a few blind shots and forced carries. well worth the drive...top quality course.
This is a great layout... One of my favorite public courses!
Positives: I've played this course several times since it opened a few years ago and it is always a pleasure. Greens are well maintained and play on the faster side of average. Overall it offers reasonable risk/reward for mid and low hc's although I have played there with high hc's who have found it to be quite a challenge.
Negatives: Although I can appreciate the expenditure, paved cart paths would really give it the final polish... Also don't like not being able to take the cart into the parking lot after a round.
