Superb Greens

The course was in pretty good condition given the weather was so poor all week. The greens were in fantastic condition and rolled superbly.

Perfectly maintained, challenging course with beautiful clubhouse & changing rooms.

Played this course for the 2nd time on Sunday. My first impression from my first round in 2012 were not good but that was more due to my poor golf than the course itself! Having been at Carton House for the 2013 Irish Open and seeing first hand the perfect condition of the course, I had to return & my second round was very enjoyable. A beautiful course which requires excellent course management, a tidy short game and the greens are very difficult. The clubhouse & facilities are immaculate. Thoroughly enjoyable but probably best avoided for higher handicappers as it could prove to be a long walk spoiled....and covered in sand.

A lot of Hype

Was disappointed with this course. The course is well maintained, however the greens weren't the best. It is a difficult course in that the rough presents a challenge ( in finding your ball mainly, as its not too hard to play out of) with a lot of bunkers on your drives. The layout is very straightforward with little variation, and no hole worthy of 'Signature Hole Status', as a result the course feels a bit bland.
Overall a little disappointed as was expecting more from a course that was awarded an Irish Open recently

Challenging course, that tests many shots in the bag

Playing off the back sticks made this course more challenging than normal. Nearly every drive be it par 4 or 5 ran the risk of bunkers at the landing area, but worth taking them on as laying up short meant an extremely long approach shot to the green, if you happened to get fairway bunker trouble then you would have to take your medicine and loft it out! Greens are very challenging but also great to play on, rarely if ever a straight putt and pace is essential, pot bunkers around the green can go very deep also. As luck would have it the wind was up this day, which meant some holes were very long into the fan! Overall I really enjoyed my round of golf on this course and look forward to playing it again soon!!

A fantastic course to play

This is a beautiful course to play. 4hrs for a two-ball on a sunny October Sunday. Very challenging fairways with a huge amount of very deep bunkers to challenge both mid-range and long-range hitters. Got a great deal through GolfNow, €40 per person. The tee boxes were as good as I have seen and would rival some greens on other courses. The greens themselves were in great condition and would provide a challenge to the most accomplished of putters. Overall a fantastic course that I would certainly play again, only hopefully better next time.

Carton House, Montgomerie Course - Dublin, Ireland

Really cool place to play golf and enjoy your day. The greens and bunkers were in excellent condition and the half-way house was a perfectly placed distraction in my round. The back nine was more difficult than the front with more memorable holes. Par threes were very tough, long and well bunkered.
This place gets my two thumbs up and I believe it's worth your time and money.
