The par-4 first hole at Glasson climbs uphill off the tee, then mainly flattens on the approach to its two-tiered green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/16/2025

A beefy par-5, the second features a trio of grass-faced bunkers that threaten a long second shot missed to the right. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/16/2025

Glasson’s third hole, a 219 par-3 from the deep tees, is simply spectacular, both as a golf hole and as a spot from which to view Lough Ree. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/16/2025

This photo captures the landing zone of the sixth hole’s second shot, where hazards abound on both sides of the fairway. Par-5, 565 yards. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/16/2025

The seventh is about as straightforward off the tee as a dogleg gets. The challenges, however, come on the steeply uphill approach and from putting the green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/16/2025

The green at twelve is one of the few spots where the course sidles up to the ‘outside’ world, here in the form of the Glasson Hotel. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/16/2025
Remodelled last 6 holes are excellent with great views of lough
This is a good course . We played on a a day with a lot of rain and the course held up very well. The course is well maintained and in great condition . Greens are true and fast. The remodelled last 6 holes are excellent with great views of lough . The new greens are superb. A course that is well worth playing with some fantastic views across the lough.
Top 100 Ireland
Enjoyed our round and we were lucky with the weather. The course was having some work done atm so will be interesting to see changes. Sometimes we were a bit lost of were to go next and could have benefited with more signage.
Excellent course with some great features , your punished if you stray from fairways!! Lovely views and some interesting par 3s, especially one over water 17 th
Better than mothing
Course was very very wet, however wouldn't hold that against it, can't control the weather. Was basically just a bog standard parkland. Unfortunately only 12 holes open ( which we weren't informed about at booking) and it's the 6 best ones we're off. Happy to get out on a bad weather day but wouldn't rush back till its full 18.
Glasson
Course in fantastic condition, 1 issue I would have is that it was not made clear enough that only 12 holes are currently open, i did find it in the small print afterwards but after travelling an hour it was slightly disappointing
The Glasson Experience
A jewel in the middle of Ireland and a real treat for golfers of any ability. From the moment you drive up to the Hotel you have a sense you are going to enjoy this course. You are welcomed by a very friendly staff who go out of their way to make your visit memorial. From the first tee shot to the last putt you will enjoy the magnificent views and you have a view of Loughrea Ree from every green on the course a feature which no other course in Ireland offers. The front nine in my opinion play a little easier most of the time . When you reach the Par 5 tenth you are embarking on a real challenging back nine which will create memories you will never forget.
My favourite hole is the 13th and the one shot I look forward to when I play Glasson is the approach shot on this hole. it looks straightforward but can catch you out and if you do manage to hit the large undulating green there is no guarantee you will walk off with a par. The drive from the middle of the woods on the 14th is speculation before you come to one if the toughest par 3 (15th) you will ever face. You can hit anything from an 8 iron to a driver depending on the wind. The index one 16th is a great hole and walking off with a par is an achievement for any golfer. When you reach the 18th green after the uphill walk you are ready to be welcomed in the clubhouse to relax and you won’t be disappointed with any selection from a wide ranging menu.
As you drive out of this golf course you will not only have created memories that will last a lifetime but there will be a longing and desire to return and repeat the Glasson experience.
