Mount Temple Golf Club

I used to be a member here years ago and I regularly go back to play here when I'm in Athlone. Course is in great condition, course layout keeps you interested, save your energy for the back 9, you'll need it.

I would recommend this course to anyone, prices are competitive with the other courses around the Midlands.

This was second time playing Mount Temple and even though greens had been dressed they were amazing and still very fast, very welcoming club with really friendly staff. Definitely play again.

We arrived late because of car trouble and they were so nice about it and we got to play, staff were amazing on the grounds and the president even gave us a low down of the course and gave us loads of advise. Will definitely be back soon, course was unreal and some amazing par 4’s and par 5’s and par 3’s were class.

Played here in a group of four with very different levels. Thoroughly enjoyable for everyone. Challenges throughout the course, but nothing a beginner would not enjoy. Would highly recommend.

Great challenging course with a mixture of difficult holes. Fantastic and informative staff, I was given a detailed breakdown of each hole by the owner. Highly recommended.

This is a family owned course with a long tradition of personally caring for their golfers. The course layout is nicely done with classic links style greens and very challenging approaches particularly the elevated greens and blind tee shots. The biggest challenge in playing this course is the rough which can hide your ball as it is very deep. So you must try and find the fairways. The white tee boxes are the most difficult as you must clear the formidable hazards with the fairway being blind to you for the potential landing area past the hazards. Playing from the yellow tees is much easier as you can see the fairways on most tee shots. The back nine is harder to play but the visual layout is great. The most difficult hole is the par 5 number 16 which curves around a hill right to left where your tee shot is blinded. There is then a valley followed by the elevated green with a marked back to front slope making it hard to hold the green because of the slopes front. If you hit above the hole or beyond in the rough, the put or chip back to the hole is a real headache. If your ball has the slightest of too much speed then you off the green and down the hill. This hole is locally called The Heart Break Hole! All is all, this is a very nice place to play and the hospitality personally by the owners is great.

2nd time to play here, really enjoyed the course plus the staff are very welcoming and friendly.

Course was in excellent condition considering the recent weather and provides a proper challenge. Staff were great to deal with and very accommodating. Look forward to visiting again.

Worth around some nice par 3's ,was disappointed with the greens especially at this time of year ,we were a three ball and all thought the same with the greens.
