Tubac Golf Resort - Anza/Rancho
About
The Tubac Golf Resort sits along the banks of the Santa Cruz River, providing a lush landscape of mature trees and cottonwood groves. The Anza/Rancho golf course is one of three different 18-hole combinations at the resort, which features 27 holes in total. The Anza's par-3 ninth hole has an island green reminiscent of the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass. The Rancho nine's fourth hole is known for being in the Kevin Costner golf movie "Tin Cup." It is also home to what has been nicknamed the "Tubac Triangle," a challenging set of holes that includes the longest par 3, par 4, and par 5 at the resort. The eighth hole is part of this set; at 651 yards it is even longer than some of the par 5s on the PGA Tour.

Very fun course to play
Excellent layout with numerous strategic options. Friendly helpful staff. Only down side was the amount of bird droppings on the Anza 9th green.
Great Fun
we always try to play a round at Tubac when we visit southern Arizona in the winter. The staff is more than friendly and very helpful. The course always seems to be in good shape and has plenty of challenges.
The best part is having lunch or dinner here too. Very good food.
Fantastic Day
Better than ever could have imagined. What a wonderful course. I plan to play here everytime I am visiting Tucson. Great course layout; senic and fair challenge on every hole.
Otero/Rancho day at Tubac Gold Resort
Today was day two for me at Tubac and I played the Otero 9 then the Rancho 9. The Rancho hole four is the one featured on Tin Cup and I did hit from the famous spot but unlike Costner I didn't land it on the green with a three wood, which seems to me impossible not as much because of the distance but more so because I can't imagine a ball flying that far that wouldn't just skip off the far side of the relatively small green. Anyway, I posted a good example of the mixed green fairway and tan rough. The picture makes the rough link a bit like dirt but it's not, it's all grass and very playable. The other picture is the Rancho 9 from the white tees. Your drive crosses the Santa Cruz river and there is about a 45 degree dogleg right with a big old cottonwood sitting right at the bend. I ended up slicing it around the bend but at the last moment my ball grazed that cottonwood but dropped right onto the fairway and left me a clear 9 iron approach. Lucky shot!
A challenging course that is also forgiving
Tubac is made up of three nine hole courses, Otero, Anza and Rancho. Today I played Otero and Anza. As a beginner I don't have a lot to compare to but this was the nicest course I've played. I've only played municipal courses before today. The fairways seemed relatively narrow but they were surrounded by larger, well maintained rough in most places making everything in bounds very playable. I tend to have a pretty good slice and didn't have too much trouble. There are several bunkers on the course and a couple holes that seemed to be mostly a line of bunkers leading up to the green so it's good to have some practice with your sand wedge. The water on the course is not a major feature but when it occurs it's pretty much always between you and the hole. There is one island green on Anza 9, which is a shortish par 3.. The greens were the hardest part of the course for me. I don't think any were flat. They aren't crazy but they all have tilts and folds that left me over or under shooting the hole for several three, and some four, puts but they were well maintained.
Enjoyed the round....got 17 b4 dark
Friendly and helpful staff. Felt like country club
Fun layout
Very nice resort course. Fairways are wide and well maintained. Greens are a bit challenging They are fast with subtle contouring and in excellent shape. Be sure to look at putts from behind the pin or it is easy to end up 5 feet past. Staff was very friendly
A well layed out course that's a treat to play.
This has been a favorite course for many years gaining fame when it was used in the filming of Tin Cup. When we first played, it was 18 holes. Since then it's become 27 holes that are rotated daily. The views are incomparable with occasional wildlife sightings. Compared to other resort courses, it's a great value for the money.
The course is kept in good shape and we've never had a problem with pace of play.
There is an excellent restaurant on site along with a snack shop next to the pro shop. Overnight accommodations are available.
Great golf for the money
Tubac is a quaint, well-kept course in a beautiful desert setting. Beautiful desert and mountain views are abundant, making it a very enjoyable golfing experience. The fairways allow the ball to sit up nicely, and the greens are fast and true. And, there is a good chance you will see horses, deer, coyotes or other wildlife to enjoy on your round. And where else can you take the Tin Cup challenge? An overall fun but challenging round of golf.
Excellent Course
Tubac golf course is a excellent course especially during the prime season .. The layout is very good and in most cases the course is in great shape. Very fair course with 4 tees for all ages and player capabilities. My biggest concern with the course is the price. During the prime season in my opinion it prices out the average golfer to play there regular.. Yes it is part of the resort so I am sure during the prime season they are catering to a whole different group of golfers. The facility is very pleasant and the staff always very friendly and helpful.. We have golfed here many times but we pick and choose the best times to do it...
Historic place.
Always have a great round here, remembering the scenes from Tin Cup and the pro golfers included in the cast. I always point out to people where some of the scenes were filmed and they are usually interested in the details. Most end up reseeing the movie to reenact the fun of Tin Cup. Also interesting is the cattle ranch history dating back to the 1800's depicted on the walls of the on site bar
Southern AZ Gem
Play here a couple times a year when friends are visiting during winter. Interesting layout with much variety in holes. Condition is OK, but fairways and tee boxes have bare spots. Bunkers are consistent. Greens are fast and accept an iron shot well.
Always a treat
Tubac Course has so much character. The history is worth the trip.
Course in great condition
Course was in excellent condition. Greens were well maintained and cut low making them very fast. Would recommend the course to others.
Disappointed
Rental clubs were very ‘used’, 1-2 needed new grips the rest were pretty beat up and a couple hadn’t been wiped down.
Amenities with cart included 1 cup of water, no coolers on carts, 3 tees, no balls. That may or may not be a typical experience but in my limited experience did not meet my expectations for a highly touted course.
Drove from Tucson to Tubac, AZ drive wasn’t bad but regretted losing the day for the experience wish we had stayed more local.
October Golf in Tubac
Awesome course. Old style, not a whole lot of trouble but plenty long from the tips . Beautiful.
Enjoyable
Always like playing Tubac..Staff is friendly and accommodating. Course is in great condition, atmosphere is soothing. Pace is steady (not too slow or too fast). Perfect day.
