Deer Valley Golf Course
About
Deer Valley Golf Course in Hummelstown boasts one of the most affordable rounds you'll find in the Hershey/Harrisburg area. Since opening in 2005, more than 850 trees have been added and it has matured into a course favored by both visitors and locals. The layout features large, elevated greens and massive multi-tiered tees. From the golf course's peaks, the views stretch all the way to Hershey and the Blue Mountains. The winding layout twists and turns, doglegging left and right. It's a challenging layout round despite the absence of sand bunkers. There is however, thick rough and a number of grass bunkers to watch out for. Water only makes a brief appearance. Deer Valley Golf Course isn't overly challenging but for a fun and fair test, it's an affordable option that also offers some beautiful scenery.

very well maintained
I love this course! Very well maintained from tee to green. I didn't land in any sand traps so I don't remember their condition. With the Golf Now discounts it is becoming one of my favorite courses.
Like course a lot.
Really like course. Only one complaint. Played here 3 times. Haven't seen a deer yet.
Very nice conditions
Even though we played in misty wet conditions, we thoroughly enjoyed our round. The tees, fairways and green were in great shape. The lady in the club house was accommodating and very friendly. Can’t wait to go back!
Worth the Money
Course seems to handle rain pretty well. An all around good deal on a good course.
Coarse conditions
The coarse was in great shape, tee boxes great, well kept. The only negative is the pace of play, had to wait on every tee box, in some cases a foursome would even come up behind us
Mismanaged...
Had a 730 am reserved tee time. Arrived at 710 and was told I couldn't be started due to a league, but was sent to a group already on 4 tee. Then, with 4 open holes behind us, grounds crew insisted on making us wait while he changed pin placements on every hole after the group ahead of us finished and we waited in the fairway....
Instead of feeling like a valued customer, we felt like we spent money and were in the way of the staff. How does a course reserve a tee time then not honor that tee time?
Look elsewhere...
Wow...no sand traps around greens
Good course to score a number under your handicap. Being our first time playing, 150 yard stakes in the fairway would have been helpful. Lots of holes with left/right doglegs. During our play, maintenance spread lime on the greens that really impacted putting....kind of inconsiderate to do this during play. Lounge could use some lighting and upgrades....not very conducive to eating there. Will I return...yes but not soon.
2nd Time At Deer Valley
This is a very nice course. I can not believe I have not been here more. A40 minute drive but well worth it. The course, fairways and greens were just right. Get out and try it. Check GN for discounts.
Nice course, first time here
Played there after a heavy night of rain and the course was a lot better than I thought it'd be the next day, handled rain really well. We got paired up with 2 randoms but they turned out to be cool, had a good time although it was a little busy and had some waiting to do, shoot a 87 which made the round a bit more enjoyable, i would dedefinitely golf here again!
Great 4th of July Round
Booked through Last Minute Golfer. I love this course. It's close to home, and it's really well maintained. It's always in great shape and price makes it a great value.
This course is in great condition
Great staff, super condition. Fairways by far are in the best condition I've played in central PA and the greens are real good as well. Great club house and patio.
Cons: No driving range.
slow greens
pace of play was good with high volume but greens were very slow with heavy use . People were very nice and helpful.
Short course in good shape
Deer Valley is a good course that can be played for low rates. There is nothing about the course that is extremely memorable, but it is consistently kept in very good shape. It plays as a 72 on the scorecard, but it realistically should be a 69 or 70. Most of the Par 5s are under 450. The GPS even displays one of them as 400. That's not a complaint by any means, but just pointing it out that the course plays very short at times. Generally speaking, it's worth playing if you're in the area and don't want to spend a ton.
Good course...slow play
The course was good, but the pace of play was extremely slow.
Great Price!
Very nice time with the course; Par 5's were challenging, but nice forgiveness of other holes for my style of play!
More than you pay for.
I paid seventeen dollars to walk eighteen. The course varies the distances from hole to hole. The fairway and ruffs are fescue so sometimes the only difference is length of grass. There is no sand but some pot bunkers full of long fescue will challenge anyone. The greens were all good and fair. The people working were great. I enjoyed everything about my round.
Nice course
Always enjoyable coming to Deer Valley. An easier layout compared to most tracks.
