Coyote Preserve Golf Club
About
Coyote Preserve Golf Club in Fenton is one of the only courses in the area designed by Arnold Palmer. The course has a hilly terrain that provides plenty of elevation changes a well as stunning views. Tumbling across deep ravines and native wetlands, the layout requires many carries over dramatic depressions and water hazards but many are seemingly intimidating but actually quite reasonable. Massive, finely sculpted bunkers strategically frame the greensides of many holes. While some of them are manageable, others are deep and sod-faced. The tricky hazards in conjunction with the dramatic elevations demand both accuracy and creative shot-making. The golf course has a memorable finish with a par-5, risk-reward hole. There is ample room off the tee on this downhill, dogleg left hole and it presents a few different options for the second shot. With some thought, scoring par is definitely a possibility.

Amazing track
Coyote preserve is one of the nicest courses in metro Detroit. Great layout. Upkeep is top notch. LOVE the play fast early tee times. Highly recommend!
Coyote reserve
Fantastic course.. great shape.. great staff
I go to Michigan twice every year.. wil definitely put this track in the rotation
Early in the season
Played May 7th and the course was not in its usual pristine condition. Overall the course is a magnificent layout with challenges at every turn however due to our late spring, greens were inconsistent, fairways were choppy with old growth, bunkers not dragged, etc. I look forward to playing here in a month. Both of us shot 83, my partner form the blues and I from the whites with a lot of rust.
Beautiful course!
Great course. Played it after a very rainy day. So the course was very wet but almost empty of golfers. So we had the course to ourselves. Can't wait to go back on a nicer day and play it again. Very challenging and great layout.
Course sent people off too close together which made for a very slow round!!! 5 hours 10 minutes!!! Probably because it was a very nice day so late in the season! They just wanted to get all the $ they could!!
Be sure and Golf this course
It has been well maintained all year long. I played it several time this year. fairways green and cut, roughs not too long, fast great greens, nice sand in traps, was there much too often LOL. Weather was 74 degrees, perfect, great day, played moved along nicely had to wait on one hole. Thank yo for a great experience again. Dave
WOW!!!! Golfing at its best!!
This is one GREAT course. It was about a 45 minute drive for my threesome to get here..but it was sooo worth the drive. We had a 3 ish tee time. Got there about an hour early and the guy we checked in with said they had 12 guys starting about 2:30 so If we wanted to get out ahead of them..go ahead..THANK YOU!!! We did just that and had a spectacular afternoon. We finished in right at 4 hours..not bad since we were not familiar with the course at all. Some shots it would have been helpful to know the "lay of the land" but it was wonderful to experience this great track.Downhill putts were tuff to stop near the hole and the uphill ones needed a nice little tap to get them near the hole. A playing buddy thought MAYBE they had been sanded with in the last few weeks but could not say for sure as nothing was readily visible. Sand was nice to hit of of with just a few stones/pebbles noticable..nothing worth griping about. There is some nice elevation to several holes and added to the day even though it was in the 90's (for late sept gof in michigan..go figure)...One thing we did take note of and it is to bad and not a fault of the course at all...Golfers PLEASE DO NOT throw your beer/soda/water containers along the cart paths into the brush!!! How people can be so inconsiderate just blows my mind.If you are ever in this area...get a tee time..you won't be disappointed. We hope to patronize this course many times more in the future.
potential
Good layout, condition is hit or miss. A little work on the course and it would be a great track.
Palmer Design that Falls Flat
Having played all other Arnold Parmer Design courses in Michigan. I can safely say this was the least inspiring one. Found the course to be a bit too tricked up. Too many tee shots into complete drop offs or doglegs that could make for very long rounds for the first time player. the two uphill par 3s are a bit too extreme, then there is a down hill devils drop one that is just as extreme. just overall the design felt forced with difficulty instead of designing the holes with the average player in mind. Clubhouse and Practice Facility were fantastic, which was welcome for the warmup. But overall conditioning of fairways was poor (very patchy, spotty) and tee boxes seemed to not have very good rotation as it was a rumble strip on some of them trying to hit from.
Great Course, Needs Rangers
Love this course. Best in the area bar none. But played last week when it was very backed up. No big deal--it was Sunday afternoon and that happens. The real problem was the group behind us was playing music in their cart. That's rude and shouldn't happen at any point, but when it's backed up and they are waiting at the tee box just behind you it becomes intolerable. Distracting and ruins the experience. Never once saw a ranger on the course who could have reminded them of basic etiquette to ensure that everyone could enjoy their round.
Great course for the value
Fair test, nice layout, great condition. Will play again for sure!
The Preserve
Friendly staff, great bar/restaurant. The course was in great shape, really fast greens. I look forward to playing again in the near future, and definitely recommend it to anyone considering it.
