Bridges - The Champion at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
Firewheel Golf Park in Garland is home to the 27-hole Bridges Course, which is comprised of three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. Opened in 2001, the course has been host to several U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur events. The nines offer plenty of variety, each utilizing the tree-covered rolling terrain in different ways. The Champion nine is the second longest nine. It features large putting surfaces and sculpted fairways lined with mature oak and pecan trees. You'll run into a fair amount of strategically placed bunkers on this nine. The Rowlett and Spring Creek meander through the entire layout, coming into play on several holes. In addition to the three 18-hole golf courses provided by the Bridges, there are also the two other 18-hole courses at Firewheel, the original Old Course and the Lakes Course.

Good courses in good shape
The firewheel staff have this course in good shape especially after the February freeze. The traditions course is closed while they replace the greens but the other two courses are open for play (champions and masters). For me it’s a little bit of a drive but I would recommend it as one of the best public courses in the area
Used to be Better
This course used to be in our rotation but we will have to take it out now. The greens on the championship nine are really rough and all the fairways and tee boxes are super dry and hard. The bunkers are in good shape but that is about it. The Masters 9 greens were about average. Really need to water more.
Bad greens
Greens are usually really good. They are struggling right now. A few holes had ok greens the rest were bad.
Weather dominated
The wind blew 25 mph and gusted to 30 mph, so the round was more challenging. Some of the greens need attention, perhaps aeration.
Good layout and great greens
Fun course with nice greens. Make sure you play the Masters 9 as part of your 18 holes.
Good course
The greens were a little in bad shape in some holes, but in general it is a good course.
It’s near that you can select the course since it has 3 nine holes courses actually.
