Bridges - The Champion at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
Firewheel Golf Park in Garland is home to the 27-hole Bridges Course, which is comprised of three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. Opened in 2001, the course has been host to several U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur events. The nines offer plenty of variety, each utilizing the tree-covered rolling terrain in different ways. The Champion nine is the second longest nine. It features large putting surfaces and sculpted fairways lined with mature oak and pecan trees. You'll run into a fair amount of strategically placed bunkers on this nine. The Rowlett and Spring Creek meander through the entire layout, coming into play on several holes. In addition to the three 18-hole golf courses provided by the Bridges, there are also the two other 18-hole courses at Firewheel, the original Old Course and the Lakes Course.

Great Value
This is one of the best bang for your buck courses I've ever played. It was very well maintained considering it was under water a couple of weeks ago. The flooding washed most of the sand away from the bunkers and they had already refilled them with the nice white sand. The greens were in great shape and fairly soft for this area. The fairways and tee boxes were nice. I enjoyed the layout and would definitely play it again.
Worth playing anytime of the day!!
The greens bite well and the greens roll true. The first layer of rough is thick so keep a close eye on your ball it really disappears. Will play this course again very soon!!!
Dallas golf
We were originally scheduled to play the Bridges course but due to flooding we moved to the Old course. Pro shop guys were very friendly, organized and were doing a good job. We asked to go out early and they had no issue with that and sent us out about 20 minutes early. I found the course to be just ok. Short , really big fairways and wide open. A few houses on some of holes but it's basically hit away and iron to most greens. # 3,9,13and 16 are the highlights of the course .Greens were in good shape although very dry and crusty. I was disappointed with not being able to play The Bridges so I will be back to play it. The old course is a good warmup to that side.
Solid Track
Tee to green the course was in fantastic shape. The greens roll very true, however they are a bit slow. Overall I had a great experience and will definitely be back to play again soon.
One of the best City courses
Grabbed a last-minute Hot Deal to play that afternoon, paired up with another single, played Tradition and Masters. Course was in great shape tee-to-green, even the bunkers, particularly good with all the rain recently. A few greens were a bit shaggy and slow, but overall a great round.
Great track - tough but precise.
Champions to Masters makes for a great 18. The course is so well marked and the GPS makes it even more accurate when sizing up a shot. And you will need it to stay in play!
Stellar practice range. Good food.
wow!
due to a very moist early year here in dallas ,the greens and fairways were absolutely fabulous. The pace of play was quiet good as well considering it was a weekend and they were very busy ,took us about 4 hours. very enjoyable round.
Great condition
Course has bent grass greens and overall was in fantastic condition. Has a lot of well thought out challenging holes . Was my first time playing the bridges course and I will be playing this course as much as possible. Recommend it to anyone looking for a great course and likes playing courses in great shape.
No walking policy
I did not play my round as I was informed the Bridges course has a no walking policy. How can you have a golf course with a no walking policy? Makes no sense to me.
Very enjoyable
Played first 9 on Champions and second 9 on Traditions.
Champion greens were recently punched/sanded so approach shots and putts were sketchy, but should be in great shape by end of April if we get as much rain as we're expecting. Fairways and bunkers were in great condition.
Traditions greens were in excellent condition since they were punched sooner. Fairways and bunkers in great condition, too.
Staff was very friendly, as always. Wasn't very crowded at all, probably since it was Masters Saturday afternoon, so pace of play was steady. Never had to wait and had time to hit extra shots or putts without slowing anyone else down.
All around fun track every time, regardless of which two 9s I play.
Great layout
I loved the course. Slow play could be an issue with no Marshall or starter, but it wasn't bad this Friday afternoon. The layout makes for some fun golf. 9 of the holes I played had recently been aerated, so greens could have been better, but the other 9 were great and a look at what they will all be soon. Overall thumbs up
Very nice greens
Greens very good. Rest of course is typical of city owned and operated, marginal tee boxes and fairways.
The Bridges course not the lakes
The Bridges has 3 different 9 hole courses.Champions is always first the you can play either Masters or Traditions. Masters course runs through a neighborhood, Traditions is more wooded. Overall the sand traps are very soft, the Champions course greens are very fast fairways are full. Traditions greens are somewhat slower but very nice and fairways are full
You must play This course, great shape for February in Texas. After your round go eat in the restaurant fairly price and very good food for a golf course.
Well worth it
I have played all Fire wheel Park courses, and the Bridges is definitely the cream of the crop. The wind hampered the experience but overall was pleasantly surprised with the condition of the greens in late November. The staff was more than friendly which seams to be out of the ordinary today. Sometimes when you play discount golf they treat you as such. Can't wait to go back in the spring when the course should be in pristine condition.
Course
Golf Club has 3 courses so you can play a different 18 several times. Staff was excellent. Course was in great shape. Need to update the directions. Golf Now had directions to the Lakes/Old Firewheel courses not the Bridges.
The Bridges
Course was in really good condition and we enjoyed our round.
This course has great features
Course was in great shape. The drink cart could have come around more times. Enjoyed the GPS system on each hole. Overall good experience.
Good Challenge for any golfer
Very pleased with course layout. Some holes requires to be very accurate off tee box. Green's roll very nice and true. Not impressed by driving range but served it's purpose of getting a few swings in before playing. Great practice green.
Great shape!
Fairway and greens where in great shape...some divots on green were not cleaned but that's the fault of the golfers and not the course!
