Bridges - The Champion at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
Firewheel Golf Park in Garland is home to the 27-hole Bridges Course, which is comprised of three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. Opened in 2001, the course has been host to several U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur events. The nines offer plenty of variety, each utilizing the tree-covered rolling terrain in different ways. The Champion nine is the second longest nine. It features large putting surfaces and sculpted fairways lined with mature oak and pecan trees. You'll run into a fair amount of strategically placed bunkers on this nine. The Rowlett and Spring Creek meander through the entire layout, coming into play on several holes. In addition to the three 18-hole golf courses provided by the Bridges, there are also the two other 18-hole courses at Firewheel, the original Old Course and the Lakes Course.

Nice layout with some challenging holes from the back tees.
Had a great time with the other singles I was paired up with. Pace of play was excellent with well maintained greens.
Nice layout with 3 separate 9's.
Played the Masters and Tradition 9's. The Masters is a nice layout. Unfortunately, the green were just aerated and were very sandy. That being said the course tee to green was in nice shape. The Tradition side was in nice shape. Green were perfect.
If you can play this course at the right price, I would definitely do it.
This course is in great condition
The greans are in great shape and rolled true! Pin placement was on some tough slopes but enjoyed the challeng... Over all the course was in great shape!!!
Best Greens for public access
Very good conditions and fairways are nicely cut. Get there now and play while fall weather make this course a treat to skip work
The greens were very good.
The course was well maintained and in good condtion, especially for this time of the year. The greens were very good. The pace of play was excellent.
greens are in good condition. The ruff was a little heavy and I appreciated it.
Greens were in good condition but not as fast as expected. Fairways were in good condition. Enjoyed the layout.
Good could be great
The greens are awesome but be sure you check for ball marks before you putt. It seems there are golfers who visit that need a lesson in ball mark repair and raking sand traps. Foot prints from animals and people all through the traps. It's a good course that could be great with a little attention. Just a couple passes by someone thruought the day to check traps and greens. Also we ran into a slow 5 some which can be annoying.
Good course
good course, good condition. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Bridges Course great from tee to green
Played on Saturday, tee off time was 9:00. Slow pace, but beautiful course with challenging sand traps, undulating greens, blanketed with bent grass more than made up for the pace. Tee Boxes, fairways, traps and greens in great condition. GPS was wonderful!
Great bent grass greens
Couse was in good shape, rough was a little high which made hitting the fairway a plus. Cart girl came around often. I was a single and got to play with a guy who had played 274 rounds this year.
The green was maintained well.
I haven't played at this course for 2 years.
Apparently, the course was redesigned. The green was changed to the left instead of right side of Hole 9 of the Tradition as I can remember. The green was nicely maintained especially in the hot summer day in Dallas.
Great course for the value.
We were impressed by the condition of the course, the golf carts with video displays/GPS, and the overall condition of the course/clubhouse. Great value.
Beautiful layout. Very difficult if you don't hit the fairway off the tee.
It was my first time at Firewheel (Bridges) course which is odd because I live less than 7 miles from it. It was a very hot (100 plus) day so course was relatively empty except for a few hardcore golfers. I truly loved the layout here. The holes had both right to left and left to right set up's so it can accommodate both a draw or fade off the tee. Greens were fantastic but not too difficult. The bunkers were fluffy white sand like you would find in Florida.
The rates here without Golfnow are pricey but the discount I received makes this place one of my top courses in the DFW area. I highly recommend this course!
Good course for price.
Nice course for price. Pace of play was a little slow but it was noon on a Saturday so to be as excepted for a public course on weekend.
Decent shape for a public course.
Greens were cut a little long, so the ball did not roll true.
Very good course
We had a early morning tee time. There were very few people out there, which made the pace excellent. The course was in fairly good shape. The ground crews were repairing the greens and working on the sand traps. This left a bunch of debris on the greens. All that being said, we really enjoyed the course and will be be back.
Bridges - Champion to Bridges - Masters
I golfed there on Friday 6/7/13. Greens were in amazing shape. Best greens I've putted on in a long time and I play once a week. Fairways were in great shape too. It was well worth paying more to play the Bridges courses. I've played the Old course and the Lakes course a dozen times each and the Bridges course blows them away.
Love the layout and playing amongest the tree lined fairways
Staff was outstanding (in the Pro Shop as well as the resturant).
