Bridges - The Champion at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
Firewheel Golf Park in Garland is home to the 27-hole Bridges Course, which is comprised of three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. Opened in 2001, the course has been host to several U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur events. The nines offer plenty of variety, each utilizing the tree-covered rolling terrain in different ways. The Champion nine is the second longest nine. It features large putting surfaces and sculpted fairways lined with mature oak and pecan trees. You'll run into a fair amount of strategically placed bunkers on this nine. The Rowlett and Spring Creek meander through the entire layout, coming into play on several holes. In addition to the three 18-hole golf courses provided by the Bridges, there are also the two other 18-hole courses at Firewheel, the original Old Course and the Lakes Course.

Just an okay track
Course is narrow with lots of hazards. Greens were rock hard and lots of slopes. Hard to keep even well hit balls in the green. Probably won’t play here again with lots of other options in the area.
Good Value
Good shape. Great pace of play (1st 9 was in 1 1/2 hours!), greens receptive and rolled true. Tough courses.
Good in any weather
I play this course many times and most of the time its in really good shape. All 27 greens have recently been replaced with Tiff Eagle. They roll true and firm so no complaints there. The staff is great and they have remodeled the proshop
The Bridges
This course is fantastic. The greens are in good condition and the fairways are the same. There was no cart girl.
Great shape considering how hot it has been
Pace of play was great. Foursome played in 3 hours and 35 minutes.
Only negative was the cracks in the fairway. Most every course has them.
Let's live truthfully
I left my pitching wedge on the 6th or 7th hole of the Master Course. I asked the team behind me, but they all said they didn't know. No matter how good the golf course is, only unscrupulous players come here, so the quality of the golf course is just below par. Everyone is having a hard time making a living, so looking at golf clubs seems to make them greedy.
