Well-(re)done members’ course for the current day
South Florida is home to dozens of golf courses built at a time when golf architecture tended to be more about tee-to-green challenge than anything else. Recent years have brought new perspectives and as courses have come due for renovations, architects have seized the opportunity to give green complexes more flair and intrigue. At this course, Beau Welling improved on a competent routing by rethinking some bunker placements and, most importantly, putting more emphasis on thoughtful greens and surrounding short-grass areas. These are the aspects that make for a particularly good “members’ course,” and while Jonathan’s Landing members have their pick of three 18s, the new-look Village is in position to be a favorite.
