About
Windy Knoll Golf Club is known among locals as being one of Springfield's best public golf courses. The course was built in 2001, though you would not be able to tell from its traditional links design. It manages to be a classic links golf course while still being a challenge. The site was originally a horse farm and the design incorporates some of the features from the terrain's former use. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are trees and rough lining the fairways. Golfers will find many risk-reward opportunities on the course, one good example being the par-4 eighth. This hole plays into the prevailing wind and if you miss your drive, you may find yourself in one of the eight bunkers surrounding the undulating green.

Do not understand why people rate this course high
Really do not understand why people give this course such a high rating a lot of the holes have a really bad left or right dog leg the sand traps were really bad sand was like cement at one point the guy that was mowing the grass ran right over my ball. Then he pointed out to me where my ball was almost acknowledging the fact that he ran over it the rough is really rough. The Tee markers on the tee boxes are not set up in a way that make sense they go diagonal in most cases not really giving the player a definitive place to tee up your ball. Definitely not my cup of tea but if people like it, that’s cool it is a challenge in Course, but not in the sense that I was looking forward to.
A little courtesy
Greens had been aerated, and were very rough. Biggest issue was that this was not mentioned at checking in and was charged full prime Rate.

Another Good Experience
Being in late September and starting early, it started being cooler outside with dew on the ground, but it warmed up perfectly as the round progressed. Course was in good condition as usual, and there are plenty of challenges. Bunkers were also in good shape even during the morning when they were a bit wet.
We were one of the first groups out in the morning. The twosome we were supposed to play with apparently decided to start early, but I don't think anyone was in front of them. However, the starter drove up to tell them they had to wait on us and then join up for the rest of the round. If nobody was in front of them, we didn't quite understand that. Regardless, it was an enjoyable round as usual.

Great course
Course in great condition. Greens are fast and true but you can hold them. Wish people would repair ball marks!

Course was in great shape and greens rolled true.
Plenty of dog legs and well placed hazards to challenge accuracy off the tee and on approach. Quick greens that can be a challenge to hold and pace more important than line while putting. Overall a very fun layout to challenge any golfer.

Worth the drive from Columbus
Beautiful golf course. Challenging but fair.
The bad - they have the worst hot dogs you will ever eat. They are: huge, overpriced, and barely cooked.

Best Course
Windy Knoll is an excellent course. It is a challenging course but fair. Our group has played this course multiple times this year and it is not overpriced.
Great staff and the course has a great restaurant on site.

First time
First time playing this course. Course was in great condition, greens were nice and fast. Didn’t have my best round because of not being familiar with the course, looking forward to playing it again. There are some challenging holes that being more familiar with course will help you make better choices to alleviate some trouble. Overall fantastic course I look forward to many more rounds.

Stay in the fairways
Challenging course with semi fast greens. Stay in the fairways to score well. Rough is trees and hills. Haven’t played the course in two years but found the course was still in very good condition just as I remembered. Shot a 74 and the wife shot a 96. She said it was a little long for her skill level. She’s been playing 3 years driving the ball 150. A little insight for anyone who has a significant other playing.

Love Windy Knoll
We had such an enjoyable day.. the course was not overcrowded and the pace of play was okay until we ran into a foursome about 11 holes in. We were a foursome and felt terrible for the two somes behind us. No starter available to pair people up at the beginning.
There were a ton of geese that made a nuisance on a few of the holes. The red horseshoes were difficult to find on many of the holes.. they seem to be shoved into the higher grass. Otherwise, the course was spectacular as always!!

Windy Knoll
Played alone, mid-afternoon. Surprisingly the course was all mine. Never pushed from behind or slowed up by anyone in front of me. I'll definitely be back to play it again with friends.

Some patchy greens and fairways, very friendly staff and nice carts. Cart path around parking lot is a mess and had to wait for other golfers to get out of way to go through

Needs Bunker Attention
Bunkers could really use some work. Very hard surface and have not been raked. Pin placements were brutal but other than that the course is decent.

Nice value
Nice, challenging track. Front nine is more challenging and ran slow with a group ahead of us. No one in front of us on the back now and we cruised around in hour and a half.
