About
Windy Knoll Golf Club is known among locals as being one of Springfield's best public golf courses. The course was built in 2001, though you would not be able to tell from its traditional links design. It manages to be a classic links golf course while still being a challenge. The site was originally a horse farm and the design incorporates some of the features from the terrain's former use. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are trees and rough lining the fairways. Golfers will find many risk-reward opportunities on the course, one good example being the par-4 eighth. This hole plays into the prevailing wind and if you miss your drive, you may find yourself in one of the eight bunkers surrounding the undulating green.

Nice and fun, but bring extra balls

Poor Day at Windy Knoll
It started as soon as we arrived at the starters booth. They had no documentation of our prepayment. We were told to go inside and of course as soon as we walked in he said "Yep you are right here you're good to go but you need to hurry" .. mind you, we were 20 minutes prior to tee time but they already had a outing that they started off early. They held up the outing and let us tee off but we were already behind two of the groups who started early. Which really slowed our play down. Of course, we had no time to stretch or even take practice swings.
To make things worse, they had a redesigned/layout of the course and there are very few markings or distance/yardage scattered about. Nothing online or GPS gives you directions of the new course layout. We spent the entire round searching for yardage markers or just guessing which really made the round quite miserable when you have no idea yardage and cannot check GPS.
With the very slow pace of play, being placed in the middle of a group outing, and constantly having to search for yardage and the next tees made this experience not so good.
We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your visit to our golf course. We understand your frustration with the lack of documentation of your prepayment, the delay in starting, the unfamiliar layout of the course, and the absence of yardage markers. Great Course
Challenging but great course. Everything was in great condition, tee times 8 minutes apart could cause pace issues but not today. Will be visiting from Columbus again.

Great Course for the Price
The course is one of best looking in the area. Greens, bunkers, fairways, and tee boxes are all well maintained. The tall grass just in the out of bounds areas add so much to the beauty of the course. It is definitely one of the tougher courses in the area, with the rough being true “rough” and fairways being thin. Lost a lot of balls but enjoyed every minute of it! Highly recommend

Never Disappoints
Windy Knoll is one of the best courses around for convenience, value, and quality. The course is always well manicured and the bunkers are playable, unlike many Ohio courses.

A lot of geese
Course was great other than an influx of geese. I was afraid I was going to hit one as there were many more geese than usual at this course. I saw a couple of them limping so I assumed they got hit. We stopped counting at 65 of them on one hole. That many geese also leave a lot of poop behind.

Not bad
The geese have torn up the fairways and some parts of certain greens, but other then that not bad.

Great Course
Played this course on a Friday at 3pm, teed off solo and didn’t catch up to anyone until the 8th hole, played entire back 9 with nobody in front or behind. Greens rolled true and the rough was thick, must keep the ball in the fairway. 15 mph headwind at times so the course name is fitting. Love playing this course and will play again.

Love this course
Play here about 4-6 times a year. yesterday the course was perfect. Rought was a little long, but it is what it is. Fairways, fringe, and greens were immaculate.
