Located just minutes from the beach, the conveniently situated Clearwater Country Club sprawls across a coastal landscape of Spanish moss-draped trees and towering, mature oaks. Stevenson Creek meanders through the golf course, coming into play on six holes. Built in 1920, the layout has a traditional design that is challenging but fair. The course is tight but it plays long, especially on the par 5s. The rolling fairways are well manicured and the greens play at medium speed and are consistently well maintained. Clearwater C.C. actually has a reputation amongst locals for its superb conditions. It is also popular with visitors, snowbirds specifically, since the club offers the area's only seasonal and short-season membership with exclusive privileges. It is also one of the few clubs in the area that allows walking.

Not the best of conditions though perfect weather for weeks

The course was over seeded everywhere,. Most greens were not too bad considering how awful they have been over the last year. Almost no fairway grass. and the rough was mostly weed that would not support a ball.

Generally disappointed and will not go there again for a while. Hopefully it will get better and not worse.

Don’t waste your time or money

I’ll try to keep this short. Pace of play was the slowest I’ve ever seen. Patrons have zero sense of people behind them and lack all respect for the course. Took 45 minutes from hole 9-11 and called it a day as I didn’t want to take over 2 hours just on the back nine. Greens very inconsistent. Some are slow and soft and a few play fast. Was given a receipt to give to starter at first tee and no starter to be found. I wish I could say this could be a nice course but they would need a few million dollars before that could happen. 2 positives, I played decent and the guy who collects the carts was friendly. If you waste your time and money here don’t say I didn’t warn you.

FORE!!!!

No effort whatsoever by this course to keep pace of play up. Additionally, lots of cross traffic on the holes means balls whizzing by all over the place, certainly not a place I’d bring a young player, too high risk of getting hit. These old folks down here don’t yell fore, and the tee box layout is borderline negligent given the ability of your average golfer.

Slightly disappointed

First time to Clearwater country club. Pace was slow. I would say 3 of the greens were too sandy. Tee boxes were decent. 1 hole looks like it had an alternate tee box set up and it was pretty squishy. Biggest complaint was slow pace of play. For the money I would say there are better options.

Good “old Florida” style course

I enjoy playing here. What it lacks in length and hazards ir makes up with exceptionally small greens. Your short game must be on target. Even though it was busy the pace of play moved along nicely. Good value for green fee.

Very swampy

Many of the holes had very swampy areas. There were many areas of new sod so when that takes, that will help to make it look nicer. It is hard to believe you could have a course in Florida without drinking water stands, but this is one of those and there was no refreshment cart.

Will have to try again

My wife and I had a 10:45am T time, we were held up in the first hole for 10 to 15 minutes due to a groups of six and the started called the two threesomes. However they played together. Which wasn’t terrible but it held us up we should have been through 18 holes by 2:00pm as we had an afternoon appointment so we ended up cutting our game short and at $40.00 per person it was a costly 9 holes.

Course was good and flow for a links course however many cannot keep their ball in their fairway . This happens but almost hit a couple times .

We will go back to play again and hope to get all 18 hioles.

Great public course

Great course for some elevation changes. Good shape and drains pretyy good for all the rain weve been having. Had a temp green for hole 18, assuming it was under repair. No biggy.

Not what I expected.

This course put the country in Country Club. Great staff, but the course was definitely underwhelming.
