Clearwater Country Club
About
Located just minutes from the beach, the conveniently situated Clearwater Country Club sprawls across a coastal landscape of Spanish moss-draped trees and towering, mature oaks. Stevenson Creek meanders through the golf course, coming into play on six holes. Built in 1920, the layout has a traditional design that is challenging but fair. The course is tight but it plays long, especially on the par 5s. The rolling fairways are well manicured and the greens play at medium speed and are consistently well maintained. Clearwater C.C. actually has a reputation amongst locals for its superb conditions. It is also popular with visitors, snowbirds specifically, since the club offers the area's only seasonal and short-season membership with exclusive privileges. It is also one of the few clubs in the area that allows walking.

Disappointed After a Long Absence
I used to play Clearwater CC frequently, but have not played here for over 5 years. I was aware of the quirky layout on what is now the front nine holes and was prepared. However, I played as a single and followed a foursome where every player had his own cart. The group was very slow and deliberate, resulting in my having to wait on nearly every shot. Not once did they offer to let me play through. I realize it was probably a league in front of me, but some compromises should be made. The greens were extremely slow, with several on the front nine appearing to not having been mowed in several days. Some of the fairways had bare spots and weed patches. I got a fair price through GolfNow, but I will think hard about returning to what used to be an enjoyable course.
Everything I was looking for
This is a nice course but the signage needs to be improved. I was confused a number of times.
Memorial Tournament
About 2 months ago I was asked to put together a memorial golf tournament for an ole friend. Clearwater Country Club staff lead by Greg, Rebeca ad Eric were outstanding. I worked for a big corporation and have been to many elaborate golf outings. For a local outing CCC exceeding all expectations. We had our team groupings on a scoring sheet, names on the golf carts, scorecards and everything was very professional. The starter was courteous and made sure everything went off on time and without a hitch. Rebecca's kitchen and bar staff were on point offering a beautiful bloody merry bar, breakfast sandwiches and great hospitably. The overwhelming response from all participants was, wow!, this was great, so much fun, when can we do it again? The event was so successful we have decided to develop a quarterly event. Thank you Clearwater Country Club, you made our friend Mike's memorial memorable. Sincerely, Doug
Save your money until they fix it
You're told up front there are 3 temporary greens. You're not told there are 3 other greens that have just been installed and are squares of sod which allow no roll and if you it it hard enough, you can only guess where it is going to go.
They don't tell you that several of the greens are just in bad shape, showing why they are replacing the others.
They don't tell you the fairways are somewhere between barren dirt and waiting to be cut... nothing good about any of them
The only thing that is more embarrassing that someone would charge $40 a round for the condition of this course is the fact that I paid it.
Most courses close to do the work they are doing. This one should. Really gives Clearwater a bad name.
I have lived in ST Pete for 2.5 years, I play twice a week at many different courses between Bradenton and Innisbrook and this was by far the most disappointing...
Temp greens on the front 9 except for a handful of holes. Pretty tough conditions to play and really made a damper on the round. The course is usually in great condition so I’m sure it will be better when it’s done.
Great course just a bit out of shape
It’s a fun course. It’s coming back slowly but count on it.
Will play again in a month
Greens under repair and spraying chemicals during play
3 greens were under repair and 5 were having new sand spread. it was a holiday and don’t understand why this work was being done in a holiday weekend. Chemical application with golfers present was a bit disturbing.
Can Be Better
It looks like this was a top notch course years back. The layout is fun. The condition was acceptable at best.. It is playable for all levels. From greens were poor, back were decent.
I think I set my expectations too high since it was a “country club”. It’s like Largo or the Landing just longer. Greens not in the greatest shape.,Sand traps were a little on the hard side.
Back 9 layout was better than front
Clearwater CC review
Cool old Florida Muni. A couple of temporary greens on the front as they are rebuilding them.
Could really use a course Marshall on a Sunday. One group driving nearly all the way up on the tee, all the way up on the greens.
Pace of play on the second nine was bad due to a foursome that needed to be pushed along.
Still a great course would recommend
