No attendant slow pace
Course is nice. Got behind a group of 6. Someone needed to let smaller groups go ahead of them. We weren’t in a hurry but some were.
Very tight driving
It was tight driving off most tees. There are many, many, many very tall pine trees close together along both sides of most fairways and underneath these pines are loads of gnarly roots so all this makes getting back to the fairway or advancing the ball difficult. I had several terrible lies under these trees and some bad hops hitting tsome of those roots when trying to get out and having to keep the ball low. The tees, fairways and green surounds were mostly mowed weeds. The greens were pretty good as was the bunkers.
First time
It's a great course. Great value for the money. I understand that this is a military base but the restaurant was closed when we made the turn which was about 2:30pm.
Definitely worth it
Greens are terrific. Fairways look like centipede or something like and are a refreshing change from the local bermuda.
Surpised
Great course - BUT it is on Hurlbutt Field - meaning you have to be a military member to get on - if you bring a guest - they have to go to the visitor center to get a pass - all time consuming.
Uber can get on - if the driver does not have a record on their file. Had one that did and was rejected at the gate.
Worth playing - just be prepared!
Fun little course
First time playing this course and to be honest not what I had expected for a course on a military installation. Greens were in excellent condition. Fairways and tees were lets say different - grass wise. Did see a gator so lived up to the name. If you want to have fun and very little stress, this is a good value when compared to the other courses within 30 miles.
Great Course!
Well maintained by USAF. Greens beautiful. Fairways nice and green and recently mowed. The cafe in the building with the pro shop is only open til 1;30.
Great day
Course was in great shape, wasn’t crowded and greens were fantastic. Little challenging for myself self being fairly new to golf but enjoyed everything. Would have given all 5’s but we got done and the food at clubhouse was shut down.
Gator Lakes
Course is very “soupy”. Water drainage is an issue as balls hitting the fairway on most holes were not bouncing or running but hitting and sometimes buried. Not a lot of hazards but on the course, trying to miss the wet areas was the hazard and challenge.
Return to Gator Lakes
I have moved away for almost 6 months and this is my first round there in many months. I was extremely pleased with course conditions and and the new mowing habits around the greens. The fairways were beyond what I could have imagined 6 months ago. The grass replant took hold and looks great. As always the staff in Golf Shop and Grill were are very professional and friendly. I will play the course over and over each time I am back in the area. Great job to Gator Lakes Management.
Course waiting for new irrigation
Drove all the way from Panama City Beach and was disappointed. We were not told until after round about the fairways being dry and bare in some areas because of upcoming irrigation replacement.
Good price for Snowbirds only $3 more than military.
My disappointment came from always hearing Air Force had better course conditions than the Navy.
Gator Lakes is the best value in the area
This course is a favorite destination of mine. I can reliably knock out 18 holes in 4 hours every time I play here. the staff is so exceedingly friendly, it's a joy to come back. the pro shop has great equipment at a really affordable price. Its a joy to share the course with the Air Commandos in the area, and it is now open to the public and the greens are really strong. Passpollum grass.
Not a real golf experience
This course is very boring with extremely slow greens and no elevation. All the holes look the exact same. The fairways are less than mediocre and there is no rough, just roots and sand. Worst golf value on the emerald coast. It feels and plays like a bush league course.
Challenging, fair and beautiful...
This my favorite golf course. And a very beautiful course.Very challenging. You will earn your score on this course. If you score well on this course you can score well anywhere. Look for wildlife. The knocks I have for this course are that you have to have access to Hurlburt Field, so I have to go there with my military friends. And there seem to be more walkers on this course then average, which sometimes slows play. But I do love this course. We play this couse a couple times a month.
