Stonegate's Friendlier Course
First, a disclaimer -- We aren't interested in paying more than $40 each for a round, so we aren't comparing these to the high-dollar choices that others might favor.
That said, both of the courses at Stonegate are excellent values for the money, and are in very good condition at this time of year (mid February). The Cypress layout is somewhat narrower, with more opportunities to lose a ball in impenetrable swamp lining some of the fairways than the wider, more forgiving architecture of the Oaks course. For those of us who can hit 'em long, but not always straight, a round at the Oaks will offer less frustration and quicker play. The staff at Stonegate is very friendly, the carts are in great shape, and the grill offers pretty good food (I just wish they had some better beer available). My wife and I have been spending the month at a villa in Reunion ($160 per round, so we don't golf there), and Stonegate's courses have been our favorites of all those in the area. Royal St. Cloud is the only other place that comes close. The Oaks is well worth a visit.
Wish we could live there.
We played the oaks course and were lucky enough to be paired up with a wonderful couple who live at solivina so they were able to point out things about the course as well as an osprey nest . We had a 1:48 tee time but didn't get out until about 2:15 because the course was busy (holiday weekend) and we just made it in at dark. Since it was our first time there, we really wanted to play all 18 and were glad we were able to. We love the layout and the price and will go back again soon!
Nice Course
We played an early afternoon round and pace of play was excellent. Course is in good shape and was fun to play. We will be back to play again.
Must play both courses, they have 36 holes
Very nice 36 holes facility. Played both courses on the same day. Will go back again. You will love the design. The course was a bit wet but after that much rain that is normal. Very nice staff, very friendly. Will play both courses again and again...
Very good value.
Tee off time was right on schedule. Very few delays with pace of play at about 4 hours. Conditions were very good. Would definitely play again.
Enjoyable Course
Good layout, lots of varieties and the conditions were good. It was my first time played the course and found very few surprises on the layout. Ball rolls smooth and true on the greens.
Great Layout
Started at 3 pm and did finish 18. Wide fairways and big greens. Lots of water but did not lose a ball today.
Great Course Layout
Excellent Course with nice fairway grass and tees. Greens were a little thin in spots, but rolled true. Larger greens with enough slope to be interesting. Sand traps were frequent, but playable, well maintained. Friendly staff.
Watch for the CROC
nice layout with fast green.unfortunately car path only as we had lots of rain two previous days and it slow down pace of play.came face to face with a couple of crocs.would like to play that course again.
Played after a 2 day rain ...
Very nice layout with a good deal of wildlife. Hopefully I just caught them after a 2 day rain and the greens are not normally this shaggy or slow. Staff was very friendly and if the greens are even at a medium pace I would recommend playing here.
Player friendly course
Wide fairways and big greens make for a player friendly course that was in very good condition. Played this course twice last year and it will be on our list for next year. There was a two hour frost delay so the course played slow. Still finished in under 4.5 hours.
Good course
like the course glad I paired up!could have been long day! Greens in good shape, will be back to play Cypress.
Great course
First time playing this course. Lot's of water and narrow fairways. Quite the challenge. The par 3's are beautiful. I would highly recommend this course.
Saved the best until last
This was my last outing for this two week vacation and I definitely saved the best until last. From arrival to departure the whole experience was fantastic. Most help staff at the bag drop, Pro shop and starter all with a smile and great sense of humour. The course has a great layout (although there's some distance between some holes) with every type of hole and is very well maintained. The wildlife is an added bonus, you can't beat an 8 foot alligator sunning himself by the tee box. We stayed for a meal afterwards in the clubhouse were the food was and atmosphere was great, a very enjoyable day, a true GolfNow hot deal.
twice the fun
With two excellent courses, you can pick either one and enjoy yourself. The courses are in great shape and the scenery is wonderful. I especially like that it plays for any level golfer.
Very well maintained
This course is beautiful. Lots of distance from T to T. The sand traps are plentiful but we'll maintained. I felt like I was playing on a PGA course.
Great Track
This course is a great layout. It's more open than the Oaks.
greens on the mend
The course was in good condition. However due to over seeding
of the greens, they were only in fair condition. The second nine was noisy. New housing construction on some holes as well other outside influences (tennis courts, roadways etc.) made it harder to concentrate on play.
