Beautiful Course
This was one of four highly rated courses I played in three days while visiting the Orlando area and this was my favorite. The course was in great shape and with the alligators, deer and various types of birds the scenery was exceptional. The course is challenging but still enjoyable for a hack like myself. Will definitely play this course again next time I'm in the Orlando area.
wide fairways, raised greens
ample landing areas for drives with most greens raised having false fronts. The fairways were not overseeded with winter rye and the bermuda was dormant. Greens were even and rolled true being not too fast or too firm.
Stonegate 2nd Course
Stonegate has 2 courses we have played the Cypress course 3 times, can not get to play the Oaks course, they have it all booked up in advance, unless you are a single, something funny going on their. (bummer)
very good course
we were happy with the course layout, even if it is in the gated coummunity , you do not see yourself playing between the houses, that was i liked about this course ,perfect weather and perfect play,
well maintained ,
Stonegate-Oaks
After purchasing a round on the Cypress course I was surprised to see my confirmation arrive at the Oaks? Golfnow was surprised too and sent me a coupon which was great. The course was in very good shape but a little hectic when I arrived. There were no carts,(I was a single), and after explaining I didn't want to miss my time one of the attendants found one and I joined a twosome who were great. Wonderful greens too!
One of our all time favorites
The course is a tough layout but fair. Choose your tees wisely. Greens are always very good. There is a wide variety of holes and you have to pay attention to all of them. Fairways are generous. Played in 4 hours, which is always good. They had a ton of play on Sunday but the pace was very good. Will go back many times on our 2 month stay in Orlando.
Started yesterday, just got home today
Wow was it slow out there. Not only did I have to wait a 1/2 hour past my tee time because they ran out of golf carts, I had to wait 15 minutes or more on every hole. Then, went to the restaurant after, and waited and hour and a half to be seated when there were a dozen tables open. Asked about it, and the staff said, "it is what it is". This used to be my favorite course in the area, now I won't be back.
solid course to play 4 all
This course is a course I play and enjoy every year. This time was no exception. One negative this time though. I went to check in and purchased range balls. I had a hot deal and was told that I could not check in until twenty minutes before my tee time because some people have purchased an afternoon tee time arrived early and went to the starter to try to get off earlier. I had to hit my range balls and return to the pro shop a second time to check in twenty minutes before my tee time. I recognize this as a problem that needs a solution. I feel not allowing me to check in and having to purchase my range balls and return 20 minutes before my tee time is terrible customer service and a the sign of a low end course. This course is not trying to be low end, nor should it, so the management here needs to figure out how to eliminate the few golfers who try to manipulate the system without inconveniencing the well intentioned customers. This looks like a knee jerk reaction with very little thought. Hope to see this rectified when I return.
injoyble
I loved the lay out and the condition of the course very good pace we finished in very good time less than 4 hr I also injoyed the twosome I was paired with and they have great crew .
Ok but course was not in the best of shape and pace of play was slow
I came on as a single and joined two members. The pace of play was slow a and I will have to blame that on the starter who may very well be at the mercy of the members. I was suppose to play with a foursome at 1140. I arrived at the t box ten minutes early and was shoved out with a threesome. The pair that I was with had sat there and let a twosome go off in front of them. Then there was a twosome behind us followed by a threesome. Poorly organized or as I said before the starter is probably at the mercy of the members who want to go out in twosomes. Waited for most shots.
The course was not in the best of shape, Fairways were beaten up and greens, although they rolled true, did not have much grass on them.
They layout is good with wide forgiving fairways. Be patient any you will have a good round.
Good course and bang for the buck
I had previously played the Cypress and was told by members that the Oaks was better. It was in better shape then the Cypress. Nice wide fairways. There was a heavy rain the night before and the sand traps were full of water, nothing the course could do about that. The pace of play was excellent as it was cart path only due to the rain so a lot of people had bowed out. We had no one in front of us the whole game and wrapped up in 4 hours
I will play this course again.
Well tended course
This is a great value for money course. The fairways roll out much more than some and the lies are very good. Greens putted well. Staff are welcoming and overall a fun place to play.
Stonegate's Friendlier Course
First, a disclaimer -- We aren't interested in paying more than $40 each for a round, so we aren't comparing these to the high-dollar choices that others might favor.
That said, both of the courses at Stonegate are excellent values for the money, and are in very good condition at this time of year (mid February). The Cypress layout is somewhat narrower, with more opportunities to lose a ball in impenetrable swamp lining some of the fairways than the wider, more forgiving architecture of the Oaks course. For those of us who can hit 'em long, but not always straight, a round at the Oaks will offer less frustration and quicker play. The staff at Stonegate is very friendly, the carts are in great shape, and the grill offers pretty good food (I just wish they had some better beer available). My wife and I have been spending the month at a villa in Reunion ($160 per round, so we don't golf there), and Stonegate's courses have been our favorites of all those in the area. Royal St. Cloud is the only other place that comes close. The Oaks is well worth a visit.
Wish we could live there.
We played the oaks course and were lucky enough to be paired up with a wonderful couple who live at solivina so they were able to point out things about the course as well as an osprey nest . We had a 1:48 tee time but didn't get out until about 2:15 because the course was busy (holiday weekend) and we just made it in at dark. Since it was our first time there, we really wanted to play all 18 and were glad we were able to. We love the layout and the price and will go back again soon!
Nice Course
We played an early afternoon round and pace of play was excellent. Course is in good shape and was fun to play. We will be back to play again.
Must play both courses, they have 36 holes
Very nice 36 holes facility. Played both courses on the same day. Will go back again. You will love the design. The course was a bit wet but after that much rain that is normal. Very nice staff, very friendly. Will play both courses again and again...
Very good value.
Tee off time was right on schedule. Very few delays with pace of play at about 4 hours. Conditions were very good. Would definitely play again.
Enjoyable Course
Good layout, lots of varieties and the conditions were good. It was my first time played the course and found very few surprises on the layout. Ball rolls smooth and true on the greens.
Great Layout
Started at 3 pm and did finish 18. Wide fairways and big greens. Lots of water but did not lose a ball today.
