Links of Sandpiper

About
Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland offers a traditional links layout that sprawls across rolling terrain. The course is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy but it has enough challenges for more advanced players as well. The course is anything but flat, and the ups and downs are the most challenging element you'll encounter. The small, undulating greens and narrow landing areas off of the fairways demand accuracy. Combined with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers, proper club selection and course management also play important roles. Picking the right lines from the tees into the greens requires careful thought. You'll face a few blind shots thanks to the rolling terrain and there are also several bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. Links of Sandpiper's final four holes are the toughest stretch.

Trees, a water fountain and rye overseed infact imply the very opposite of "links." Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 03/13/2020

What did they do to the greens? Time for a new greenskeeper.
The greens were nice a couple of days before we played but they put the wrong chemicals on the greens and killed all the grass. It was really bad. The worst part was noone told us anything.
Slow greens
The greens are back. They haven't cut them very short yet. But it was nice to see green grass
Horrific conditions
Fairways are a goat track. Greens are in terrible condition. Patchy where your putts hit x games ramps on path to the hole, While also being so thick it’s like putting on carpet at home. Course has no business charging over 40$ to play 18. They gave no disclosure of how bad the greens were before they took your money.
Poor Greens
Greens were in horrible condition. They weren’t mowed, very hairy. Lots of bare spots. Very disappointed in the conditions because it’s a fun course.
First time golfing there
Unfortunately, we did not realize when booking that they had aerated the greens and had a lot of sand on them. Otherwise enjoyed the course.
Rough Greens
Course was in much better condition last year. The greens are pretty bad and your ball bounces a lot on the greens which have a lot of dead areas. Pace of play was great only because hardly anyone was there. It was a good rate on Golf Now so we went there. I'll go back when I read some reviews that the greens have improved as I like the layout. I would only recommend playing after the greens are repaired.
Needs a ranger to get slow players moving!
Love this course but greens are getting bad and slow players are making play frustrating
Never again
How this place has gone downhill! The greens are like putting on a tee box: bumpy ,bare dirt showing, basically sucked. Fairways are almost bare, bunkers OK, For the most part was a total waste of money and time. Course needs to be better maintained
Okay
But greens are crap. Lots of weeds in the fairways. Ponds need water
Absolute Trash
Literally the worst course I’ve ever played. The community shouldn’t stand for such a disgrace. I need to close the course and redo all of the tea boxes and greens at a minimum to make this even worth $39….
Left after 9 holes
Not worth $45
There are really no fairways, just shorter grass. Hard to tell if you were in the rough or on fairway. Greens need some work. Way too much sand and they are rough. Another commenter called them "fuzzy" and I would have to agree. The layout of the front 9 is fine, but the back 9 is terrible. Holes 14-18 are shoved into the space of 2 holes. Hole 17 is particular horrible. You have to hit over an island with trees, so you have no way to track your ball. There is no fairway to aim for, just a cart path and 2 bunkers on the other side. The Pro Shop and bar staff are friendly. The starter was great. Very personable. That's about all. This plays more like a $20-$25 municipal course. Overpriced a d won't be back.
Fun
Challenging layout fun course. Greens need attention, but it's transition time
Course is in poor shape. Lots of weeds, sand traps rough and greens half dead.
very rough shape
ok for hitting balls if you are a serious golfer look eldewhere
