Links of Sandpiper
About
Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland offers a traditional links layout that sprawls across rolling terrain. The course is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy but it has enough challenges for more advanced players as well. The course is anything but flat, and the ups and downs are the most challenging element you'll encounter. The small, undulating greens and narrow landing areas off of the fairways demand accuracy. Combined with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers, proper club selection and course management also play important roles. Picking the right lines from the tees into the greens requires careful thought. You'll face a few blind shots thanks to the rolling terrain and there are also several bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. Links of Sandpiper's final four holes are the toughest stretch.

Trees, a water fountain and rye overseed infact imply the very opposite of "links." Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 03/13/2020

For the price was very acceptable. Greens very slow and we were taking our goddaughter so everything was good for that. Not the best we played this winter but far from the worst. I would tell friends to play but keep an open mind!
Greens need attention
I have been playing this course for a long time and the greens are lacking attention. If no improvement is made I will not be back
The greens and fairways are in dire need of work.
I was shocked at the state of the first green, the grass was rough and brown in spots and the ball did not roll very well.
This was the case at the majority of the holes.
Will not spend the money to golf here again until the grounds improve or the price drops considerably.
I regret not taking pictures
Maybe the worse conditions in the USA…
Almost unplayable…luckily the weather forced our hand and we dipped..
Just no grass on the greens or the fairways and these little fake ponds and streams that really add zero value to the course - just spend the money on the grass!!
Seeing players tee off in crocs should have been the warning we needed to turn around..
Positives - people were nice and I have a story to tell golf friends for a lifetime…actually, go play it so you have the same :)
Course conditions overall
The fairways were good bunkers were fair, however the greens were inconsistent in speed and very bumpy. They could use some TLC.
Great Course & Layout That Needs a Little Work
First things first, the layout is awesome. Really loved the holes on this course and the staff was awesome in explaining everything to us being our first time on this course. The bad, the greens on the front 9 were in really bad shape and the greens needed cut on almost all the holes that were in decent shape.
Aside from the greens though, the course layout is fun and offers a lot of rolling terrain that you miss by playing in the flattest state in the nation.
Course Conditions
For the price - course was ok, a few of the greens were rough.
Sandpiper
Lots of variety, course in good shape, well worth the price of admission.
Sparse grass on entire course
Greens were really sparse and so were fairways. Had to move the ball just to find a patch of grass.
This course has plenty of variety
Overall the course was in decent shape, some greens were better than others, lots of variety, had to choose clubs carefully, some hidden water trouble. Well worth the price of admission.
Inconsistent
The course layout is a little bit quirky. It almost as if they had only so much land to squeeze in 18 holes and did the best they could with what they had. A couple of the holes put you in some peril of being hit by another group's golf ball because of the course layout. The greens were also very inconsistent. Some had a lot of growth on them and were slow while other greens were sparse and quick. This made putting a real challenge. I play this course once a year and after I'm finished I always ask myself why I play a round of golf here.
Ranger needed
Pace of play was horrible. Tees and greens were in good condition. Fairways were dry and hard.
You Get What You Pay For!
Extremely overbooked then witnessed a group of guys come in without a tee time and they cramped them in! Started out with four groups on hole one. Took 2 hours to play 7 holes and three of them are Par 3's! I quit after the 7th. The greens are horrible. Need to shut it down and put some money into the greens. Tee boxes and fairways were decent enough. Not worth even the GN rate of 28 bucks.
To crowded
Very crowded took 5 hours to play it was brutal having to wait 5 min or longer to hit course looked ok some greens had issues with bare spots and inconsistent with the speeds with the front being slower than the back I wouldn’t pay no more than $25 if u can get a deal
Short but fun
We always play this one as the back end on a double header. Put the driver away and play irons on every hole. Great wildlife.
