North Golf Course at Big Cypress Golf & Country Club

About
Big Cypress Golf Club is home to two golf courses, the championship South Course and the executive North Course. Located in Lakeland, Big Cypress is situated between Orlando and Tampa. The courses are part of a gated retirement community called Cypress Lakes. The North is less challenging and offers a gentler version of the South that is more approachable to beginners. It is a fairly narrow layout that features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed sand bunkers. Water also has a strong presence on the course, coming into play on a total of 12 holes. The layout is player-friendly and offers several risk-reward opportunities. It is a great for beginners and more advanced players will enjoy it for a quick round or a warm-up for the South Course. In addition to the two golf courses, there is also a driving range and putting green.

Nice!
Greens are slow but what a great executive course, best one around.
No one on the course
It is hot in August but that means no one is on the course. Greens are in great shape just slow. Great place to play.
One of the best executive courses around
Check in was a breeze, Mr. Rich is always so nice. Grabbed our cart from their great staff and off we went. Course is great, greens were aerated again so a little bumpy, they'll be great in a couple weeks should the rains do their thing. Love coming here definitely will be back.
Punched Greens
Greens were punched and sanded, which meant pretty much you 2 putt and move on didn’t know they had worked on the greens. There was no alert on GolfNow so was surprised to see that but I got a good deal so I was OK with it. Course was wide open at the time. I played very hot but got some swings in. Enjoy the day.
Lies, lies, lies
Apparently this place will lie to get you in the door. I called several days (4 days) ahead of my tee time before I booked it to confirm I could go out as a single golfer. The gentleman whose name was John that I spoke to confirmed this would be possible. Great, 4 days later I drive from Winter Garden to Lakeland (about an hour drive) and when I get to the pro shop to check in and pay for my tee time the guy at the counter made up some story about how they gave away 200 carts and don’t have enough to allow someone to go out as a single. Keep in mind that I passed an entire fleet of golf carts on the way into the pro shop. I found them 200 more right in front of their face. After this, I turned around and drove the hour home without even golfing. The course sits amongst a manufactured homes (basically a trailer park) and one of the tee boxes was so close to the parking lot I’d be careful where you park if you choose to spend your money at a course that lies in order to make a buck.
Absolute gem
First off Mr. Rich and Jeff in the shop were a breath a fresh air, they're always so nice and accommodating. The north course had recently been aerated but still in really good shape all in all. Another week or two the greens will be ideal. Great layout plenty of challenge and a great place to dial in your wedge game.
Great course
Was a very enjoyable round of golf. They do a great job taking care of this course.
Shorter executive course was fun and a good value.
Shorter executive course was fun and a good value.
Decent course for getting reps in
It's a short executive course where your ability to control your shots are rewarded. It's not an overally difficult track but you won't be hitting bombs on it. If you want to hone your skills, give if a go but don't use the expensive balls.
Excellent Course to Play!
We're definitely playing here again! The staff was very friendly and helpful and the course is in excellent condition, particularly the fairways and greens. The greens run fast and true. [Hint: avoid downhill putts. 🙂] If I had a complaint, it would be that some of the par 3 tees are in rough shape, but that's expected considering divots are taken from a small area every day.
