Links of Sandpiper
About
Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland offers a traditional links layout that sprawls across rolling terrain. The course is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy but it has enough challenges for more advanced players as well. The course is anything but flat, and the ups and downs are the most challenging element you'll encounter. The small, undulating greens and narrow landing areas off of the fairways demand accuracy. Combined with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers, proper club selection and course management also play important roles. Picking the right lines from the tees into the greens requires careful thought. You'll face a few blind shots thanks to the rolling terrain and there are also several bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. Links of Sandpiper's final four holes are the toughest stretch.

different
I have played this course many many times. From way back when it was a really nice course, right on through the time it was more like pasture golf, (I actually stop playing it because it was unplayable)
This was however, the first time I played since the renovation was completed.
The front nine layout has changed some. The back nine is radically different. Before it was, for the most part, hit it hard and do it again on the next hole. It was a drivers course. Now you have to play your shots, think about your shot. The yardage has shrunk but not the skill level required or the enjoyment of playing a challenging course that is also very pleasing to the eye. Back to the top of my play list.
Thank you for taking the time to review us tonywh. Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. Links of Sandpiper thanks you!
Loved playing this course
Excellent all the way around. Will recommend and play again. Nice grass and back nine greens were very nice.

Some bumpy greens
The whole course has been over seeded so everything is nice green color. My only negative comment is that some of the greens have sparse grass In spots so bumpy.
Hi PMAEGOLFER. We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Links of Sandpiper!
Nice course
Decent layout, challenging holes. Lots of water on the back 9. Greens were being worked on so they were all covered with sand. Lots of bare patches in the fairways. Fun for the money
Hello lowbuckbob. Thank you for taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass along your feedback to the staff so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting us!
Winter Golf
Today was the slowest play ever at Sandpiper, maybe split the front and back 9's but I do like the floating green!

Beautiful and Green
Course is really starting to settle in with the new format on the back 9 getting more comfortable with the last 5 holes everything is looking so good the grounds crew and workers have done a great job on making it look so green and beautiful it’s really amazing how great the course looks
Thank you for taking the time to review us tk68. Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. Links of Sandpiper thanks you!
Surprised
Last played here in 2018 before any construction. Now the course is dangerous. Too many holes close together with balls dropping right beside your group. Lay out now is a mess and the course is over all now sad. Greens slowest I have played since I have been down here this year.
We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your round. The back 9 is still being worked on and nets are being installed to prevent cross shots. We hope you'll return in the future for a better experience.
Course in good shape
It great to see the whole course open now what they have done is amazing looks so good the back 9 on last 5 holes will take a few rounds to figure out where to hit your shots and how to play the new layout was told they plan to put a net up between holes 17 and 18 to prevent anyone from being hit since those holes r so close together look forward to playing here more and congrats to the new owner for improving everything with the course
Hi tk68. We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Links of Sandpiper!
Beautiful Course
Tight, holes and houses to close and too many hazards. All combined too much activity around to concentrate and felt like I had to direct the ball because of the hazards

Good day of golf
We enjoy playing this course, because it's not too long for my wife. The condition is improving. Greens are a little patchy, so you're not sure of the speed on many of the putts. GPS doesn't work on the back nine due to the total redesign of the back nine.
Hi Willyhoto. We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Links of Sandpiper!
New layout
Holes 14 to 18 are all new ,lots of work is being done .Their rebuild of the course and facilities is coming along great,if you haven’t played it for a while try it you will be surprised.

Played once in 2019. Back nine was redesign and I love the course even more than before. The fairways has a few bare spot but mostly in great shape. A few greens had issues but I still love the course. Will play it again.
Thank you for taking the time to review us patdmbs. Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. Links of Sandpiper thanks you!
Great course
I have been playing this course since it opened. Have not played since renovation. They have done a fantastic job and I enjoyed my round. Because it was a cold day, there was a good pace of play, wich made it more enjoyable., however, they are going to have to change the name now, from Sandpiper, to Aquapipers.
Thank you for your review, Franzua. We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Links of Sandpiper. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Rough shape
Driving on to the club grounds it looked Inviting. The clubhouse is amazing! First class! However they should put more efforts into the golf course itself! Definitely not a 4-star. Hardly any grass on the fairways...the greens were in pretty bad shape. The layout was confusing and often dangerous (tees behind or very close to greens). Overall not great. Wouldn’t return again.
We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your round with us. We're currently experiencing very good conditions at the moment so we hope you give us another shot in the future.
Links of Sandpiper
Course has changed dramatically with the remodel and it’s all for the better! Years ago I used to play sandpiper about once a week and it was mostly just a cheap course in terrible shape but they have done a complete turnaround from that. Greens tee boxes and greens were in excellent shape as well as the fairways. Course was plenty challenging for a mid level handicap like myself and still fun enough for the high handicap players I was with. The new clubhouse is beautiful and I’ve heard nothing but excellent things about it. My only complaint was some of the grounds crew weren’t very friendly and one even ran over my ball in the fairway on the 9th. Other than that I highly recommend and will definitely be back!
Your feedback is important to us, Lucas8847769. Thank you for sharing your 5-star experience. We look forward to seeing you again at the course soon! Thanks for choosing Links of Sandpiper.
Better than expected
Great job on the back nine layout. Lots of challenges, for all skill levels, and a beautiful layout. The 17th and 18th are close, but wait until everything is grown up. Meantime, a short iron should take care of that. Back to being our home course again!
Wayne1353313, thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Links of Sandpiper.
Great deal, great layout
The course was very challenging and wasn't just a home away type of course.

Get your Moneys worth
Loved the course. Played with our 4 some in 3 and 1/2 hours on a Sunday late morning/early afternoon. Loved the renovation they did to the back 9. The 17th green and 18th tee is a dangerous set up they have so be aware when playing. Course was in overall great shape for the money and was actually a good challenge. Would recommend this course to all skill levels!
