Links of Sandpiper
About
Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland offers a traditional links layout that sprawls across rolling terrain. The course is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy but it has enough challenges for more advanced players as well. The course is anything but flat, and the ups and downs are the most challenging element you'll encounter. The small, undulating greens and narrow landing areas off of the fairways demand accuracy. Combined with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers, proper club selection and course management also play important roles. Picking the right lines from the tees into the greens requires careful thought. You'll face a few blind shots thanks to the rolling terrain and there are also several bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. Links of Sandpiper's final four holes are the toughest stretch.

First time playing the redesigned last 5 holes
The last five holes have been redesigned and rerouted to make room for new houses. Because there is less acreage the new holes are shorter than the previous version. Not a bad thing. May speed up play. The new holes were enjoyable to play. Will take a few rounds to figure out best way to play them. My GPS does not have updated data for the new design yet. New holes are in good shape. Some fairways and greens have some small areas still need to completely fill in. Tee box areas are beautiful now.
Thank you for your review, PMAEGOLFER. We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Links of Sandpiper. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Well done!
If you are up for a fun challenge, you need to play this course! Tight fairways, uneven lies, and small to large undulating greens make me feel like I am playing in college again. I really like what David Tavlin has done to the course and it will only get better with time!
Your feedback is important to us, mdinwiddie. Thank you for sharing your 5-star experience. We look forward to seeing you again at the course soon! Thanks for choosing Links of Sandpiper.

Awesome
I played this course over a year ago swore I wouldn’t return. Now I play it every chance I can. The new owner has done a great job making it enjoyable to play. Always doing something there to improve it. The greens are great, fairways have grass, bunkers nice sand. I can’t wait to play the back nine. This will be my home course if it stays the way it is. I live in Lakeland. Thanks for making the course great again.
Hi gcranic01. We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Links of Sandpiper!
Windy but fun
The whole course will be open for play this coming Saturday looks like price will be around $30 I’m looking forward to playing the back 9 with the new changes as for my round it was good front 9 looked great greens were slow(a little fuzzy) I’m sure they’re waiting till the end of week to cut them closer new owner and staff have made the course so much better Big Cypress is still the best but Sandpiper is going be right there to challenge that it’s already better than Huntington, Wedgewood and Cleveland and there’s still more to come I’m sure when u put over 3 million improving a course your in it for the long haul to be #1 in Lakeland good luck to the new owner and staff go play and have fun

Hello, jameskeith64. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
Anxiously awaiting 18
I love playing the front nine but will be excited once the back nine opens. Course management is doing a marvelous job of maintaining the front nine. The greens are in good shape and actually a bit fast.
We're very excited to open the back 9, as well! We will be opening the back 9 beginning Saturday, December 21st.
Thank you for visiting us at Links of Sandpiper. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Frustrating
Paid for 18 holes and only played 9. Took over three hours to play 9 holes because all of the members are playing and the course is overbooked. Only 9 holes are open and construction workers and machinery are operating the whole time you’re playing. Course is torn up and you are supposed to play the front nine twice. Won’t be back anytime soon. Wasn’t worth the hot deal.
We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your time with us. We are in the process of beautifying our course and we are diligent to inform all guests and players of the current conditions and that the back 9 will have to be played twice. We hope in the future you'll give us another shot.
Thank you for visiting us at Links of Sandpiper. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Cold and windy
Course in good condition back 9 still closed they said it might be open by middle of December but I don’t see it being ready till next year there’s no grass on some of the holes there working on and trucks and equipment working on drainage to but it’ll be great when it’s done I’m sure the new owner has spent a million or more on the new layout and clubhouse hope they can keep it going so far it looks really good
Thank you for your review, tk68. We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Links of Sandpiper. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
The course is in terrible shape .
I played here last year and I really enjoyed it but I won’t be coming back any time soon Even the nine holes that are open wasn’t any fun to play.

Back 9 closed
Played as a single behind a foursome but rate of play was good. Interesting layout with 3 par 3 , par 4, and par 5 holes. Unfortunately the back 9 was closedVery friendly staff on course and in clubhouse.

Will be back!
Played this course for the first time today. We knew ahead of time that the back 9 is closed due to major renovation. Nice front nine, tee boxes , fairways and greens in good shape . Clubhouse was very nice and clean restrooms! We will be back and looking forward to golfing the renovated back 9!

Call ahead to see busyness
I play here regularly in the course is in excellent condition for the price. you will have to play the front nine twice because the back nine is under construction. my most recent experience I showed up for my 10:15 tea time to find a club tournament going on in 8 carts in front of me. I was denied a refund or a rain check this is very disappointing. I would have had to have waited in line for nearly an hour to start my tea time an hour late. Other than this single experience the course is in excellent condition. Management should take into consideration reservations that are made while not knowing there's a tournament going on.
