Links of Sandpiper
About
Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland offers a traditional links layout that sprawls across rolling terrain. The course is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy but it has enough challenges for more advanced players as well. The course is anything but flat, and the ups and downs are the most challenging element you'll encounter. The small, undulating greens and narrow landing areas off of the fairways demand accuracy. Combined with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers, proper club selection and course management also play important roles. Picking the right lines from the tees into the greens requires careful thought. You'll face a few blind shots thanks to the rolling terrain and there are also several bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. Links of Sandpiper's final four holes are the toughest stretch.

Good course. I like the changes that were made on the back nine
Sandpiper 1/17/2020
Staff was extremely friendly, starter offered several bits of local knowledge that were very helpful and got me out early as a single.
Course was a little rough, greens are a little shaggy and inconsistent but will grow in, especially on the back nine.. A wonderful layout, several blind tee shots and lots of water visible only on second or third shot.
Pace of play was glacial, over five hours. The course appeared to be over-booked and there were no marshalls.

Different
Overall, I think management has done a fantastic job bringing the course up to a much higher level of play. However, the 17th green is much too close to the tee boxes for hole #18. Also, when you tee off on the 18th hole, if you go left much at all, you're almost in line with the tee boxes for the 17th hole. This is a rather dangerous situation.
Thank you for your review, CherokeeFlyer. We will pass along your positive experience and helpful feedback to our team at Links of Sandpiper. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Enjoyable Round

Not sure YET on the last 5 holes
Finally played the back 9 to see the new format on holes 14-18 not sure yet if I like the layout need to play it more, if your a long hitter u want be able to hit driver off tee because you’ll probably end up in the water on the par 5’s 14 and 16 and the par 4’s 17 and 18 r to short and the greens r small feels very closed in and narrow playing those last 5 holes but I understand that’s what had to be done to fit all the houses that will be built around those holes It’s a different look will just take time to feel comfortable on how to play the holes go play it yourself and see what u think

3.5 stars
I enjoyed the front 9 and the first few on the back. But the New holes on the back are just odd. Water everywhere. Confusing holes. Very tight fairways. 17 hitting into 18 makes no sense. So close as to be dangerous. I hit a hybrid off 17 fee and almost hit 18 tee. And I am a very short hitter.
Worth playing if you find the right deal. People were friendly.
Hi Andrew5434407! Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back!
Disappointing
Check in person not welcoming, especially when she noted we were Golf Now prepaid customers and not recognized members of their semi-private club!!.No instructions on where carts were, first tee, etc. We understood the course was going through re structures, etc, but very difficult to navigate to correct holes and tees. Course is too narrow, golfers were in wrong fairways at times and never saw Marshall til towards end of round.Another private club that needs money , has to invite public in but gives us the cold shoulder!
Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback. We're very sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your round with us. We never want our guests to feel anything short of welcome. We will absolutely pass along your feedback to our management staff.
17th and 18th Oops
All good on new back 9 until you get to 17 when you are hitting into oncoming 18th players. Got to get this fixed other than that like the new water hazards good challenge! Wanted a burger today after play but restaurant was busy busy and wait would be too long

an experience
greens need work, fairways close together and you have difficult time locating which is your green to play to
pace of play was very slow

Fun Track
Pleasantly surprised how much I liked this course. Played from the blues both times and found an interesting mix of holes. There wasn’t a hole I didn’t like. Back 9 greens were slow but I get it - the back was recently reopened and the greens need time to grow.
Pace of play was good but I played first thing in the am. Good value as well.

First time playing the redesigned last 5 holes
The last five holes have been redesigned and rerouted to make room for new houses. Because there is less acreage the new holes are shorter than the previous version. Not a bad thing. May speed up play. The new holes were enjoyable to play. Will take a few rounds to figure out best way to play them. My GPS does not have updated data for the new design yet. New holes are in good shape. Some fairways and greens have some small areas still need to completely fill in. Tee box areas are beautiful now.
Thank you for your review, PMAEGOLFER. We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Links of Sandpiper. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Well done!
If you are up for a fun challenge, you need to play this course! Tight fairways, uneven lies, and small to large undulating greens make me feel like I am playing in college again. I really like what David Tavlin has done to the course and it will only get better with time!

Awesome
I played this course over a year ago swore I wouldn’t return. Now I play it every chance I can. The new owner has done a great job making it enjoyable to play. Always doing something there to improve it. The greens are great, fairways have grass, bunkers nice sand. I can’t wait to play the back nine. This will be my home course if it stays the way it is. I live in Lakeland. Thanks for making the course great again.

Windy but fun
The whole course will be open for play this coming Saturday looks like price will be around $30 I’m looking forward to playing the back 9 with the new changes as for my round it was good front 9 looked great greens were slow(a little fuzzy) I’m sure they’re waiting till the end of week to cut them closer new owner and staff have made the course so much better Big Cypress is still the best but Sandpiper is going be right there to challenge that it’s already better than Huntington, Wedgewood and Cleveland and there’s still more to come I’m sure when u put over 3 million improving a course your in it for the long haul to be #1 in Lakeland good luck to the new owner and staff go play and have fun
