North Golf Course at Big Cypress Golf & Country Club
About
Big Cypress Golf Club is home to two golf courses, the championship South Course and the executive North Course. Located in Lakeland, Big Cypress is situated between Orlando and Tampa. The courses are part of a gated retirement community called Cypress Lakes. The North is less challenging and offers a gentler version of the South that is more approachable to beginners. It is a fairly narrow layout that features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed sand bunkers. Water also has a strong presence on the course, coming into play on a total of 12 holes. The layout is player-friendly and offers several risk-reward opportunities. It is a great for beginners and more advanced players will enjoy it for a quick round or a warm-up for the South Course. In addition to the two golf courses, there is also a driving range and putting green.

Cypress Lakes North Course
Excellent conditions. Due to threat of rain we were alone on the course. If you pay normal rates at the club house the course is over priced. Par 60 executive course. Their par 72 is in even better condition and equally over priced. They do have a real nice club house (bar snd restaurant) and pro shop. The staff is helpful and friendly. If you are watching your funds, with some research, you will find that you will do better elsewhere.
Amen
Great course for my skill.
Very good condition.
Workers helpful.
Short course
Executive course plays 3494 from tips. Six par fours, tight track, water and woods.Good course to work on your short game.
Got great deal on golf now a little pricey to pay $ 34 regular rate.
Great Little Course
This is a great executive course. The greens were in great shape compared to others I've seen so far in the area. Challenging layout requires good course management and shot shaping. Staff were friendly and helpful. Pace of play was great even though we were playing as a threesome. Finished the round in 2 hours. If you're looking to work on your short game and have a little fun at the same time, give this course a try.
Narrow
Don't let executive course fool you. If you are up for a challenge this is the course for you. VERY narrow and no room for error. Lots of wAter comes into play.
Fast play.
We golfed at 12:00 noon and there was no one in front of us. We played the North course in just over 2 hours.
Excellent course to play
We really enjoyed the course, water made shorter course more challenging. The staff was very friendly and the pace of play was outstanding. Greens had a great ball roll and were well taken care of. The wildlife was a plus for the outstanding condition of the course.
Tough Track
A real test from the tips. Need to play it a couple times to score well. Couple tough carries off the tee. Conditions were excellent. Greens are plush but a little slow about 9. Little bit wet. Really nice layout by Ron Garl. Will play it again!
Outstanding course
Loved this course for my first time playing it. It has nice wide fairways and big greens.
course was closed
We were not able to play because the course was underwater.
Challenge
Course is well maintained and it test your skills. I played last weekend and I wanted to replay the course. The green, especially the 18th can be tricky, because it is surrounded by water and the green doesn't hold the balls on the green. Fun course to play and would recommend it to all.
The course as a great layout .The grenn are not in good shape
It not in good shape I will not play again ,I cant play somewhere else o the same money.the stafe is very friendly .Are to find the course first tee .
Very good short course.
This was a fairly tight course. Some tee shots are
very demanding, mixing sand water and foliage close
to the fairway. Only drawback was the greens look
like they were frost damaged from an early winter
cold snap. I feel confident the course will work to
correct this.
bad greens
the greens on the north course are terrible. there are patches of new grass, there is mold everywhere. fairways are okay but there is a lot of wet areas that do not drain well or at all. tee boxes were okay but could use some work also. overall the course is not worth what they charge, kings ridge is a better choice and has better views.
Gem in Lakeland Area
Great layout and course conditions! Even though the course is in a double wide community everything from the clubhouse, to the pool area, to the course are very well done. There are many opportunities to see wildlife (saw two gators that were maybe 9-10'). The course is challenging, but fair. I've played many courses in 55+ communities and this has to be by far the best course. Only complaint was the starter whole ordeal was a little disorganized. Pace of play was pretty good (4.25 hours) considering how busy they were. I honestly hope they continue to offer this course to Golf Now players as this is one of the best courses in the Lake Land area.
Par 3 course
BIG CYPRUS NORTH turns out to be a course with 17 par 3's - not what the name suggests and not worth driving an hour to play. I have complained to golf caddy as they should make this clear. The lady at the professional shop was also not pleasant
Play it Now
This is a great course in good condition, If you want to play it do it soon. According to the Starter/ ranger they plan to replace several of the greens this summer.
Similar in quality to Stonegate Cypress GC, Orange Lake Reserve GC, & West Orange G&CC.
Big Cypress Golf Club - South Course. 1:15 tee time w/ 2 buddies for $20.33/ea Hot Deal tee time. Private course in subdivision setting. Mostly tree lined holes but with wide landing areas. Haven't played it in 7-8 years & new owners have brought quality of course up nicely. Tee boxes & fairways are plush. Large elevated greens roll fast & true. Nice Pro Shop w/ good amount of merchandise. Also w/ a nice good sized 19th hole. Battery powered carts w/ windshield & rain cover in back.
Iron Practice
If you need to practice your iron play and short game this is your course. Bunch of par 3s and a few par 4s sprinkled. The greens where in pretty good conditions as were overall course. Great and calming scenery with plenty of wildlife. Not crowded so play at own pace. And seen a 10 foot gator. That's amazing for a guy who grew up in Chicago. Overall enjoyed the course and my short game got sharper.
