The Florida Club

I tend to play here one or two times per year and every time I come away impressed. The course is a fun low-profile take on Pete Dye’s design philosophy, it’s always in good shape and there are always accomplished players hanging around. The group in front of me included some competitively accomplished local pros, and an aspiring PGA Tour player cleaning clubs and talking up the day’s players at the bag drop. That sort of convivial atmosphere is rare and precious, and I am always glad to be immersed in it for a while whenever I decide to tee it up at The Florida Club.

Pace of play, greens and layout one of the best I’ve played for a course open to the public

Really nice layout, green’s fast with lots of undulations. Marshals really attentive, improved pace of play.

I called ahead when bookbinding to confirm they could handicap the carts to allow less walking. I rated all categories a 5, but this was a problem. There was no noticeable benefit to have the course computer system tuned to my need with Afib. I tried turning off the GPS and range finder system but that stalled the cart to 1 mph. I never abuse this privilege but this needs adjustment. Great track!.

Some holes are very close to the I-95. So you hear a constant noise. I wish I had checked the location beforehand. But apart from that the course is beautiful, demanding but not mean. And the best of all was the starter who gave us advice how to approach the greens. He really made our day!

It is one of the best public course in the area. Always enjoy playing there. From tee to green nothing wrong to sau. Greens were sanded but in good rolling condition. Will play this course for sure anytime i can. Worth the drive
