Florida's climate was built for golf. With year-round warm weather, the Sunshine state attracts golfers from around the world to play its top public and resort golf courses.
GolfPass releases a Top 25 Public Golf Courses in Florida every January thanks to YOU. We create our annual Golfers' Choice lists by curating the reviews submitted by everyday golfers. We use GolfPass' Ratings Index logic that weights newer reviews and combine it with a course's subcategory averages.
Each course needed at least two reviews and at least some public access to qualify. Considering there are more than 1,000 golf courses in Florida, it's tough to stand out from the crowd. South Florida is especially a big hotbed, from the Palm Beaches to the PGA Village down to Miami and Doral.
We make our Golfers' Choice best-of lists user friendly. Simply click on the photo of each course to learn more about the facility or to book a tee time (in most cases).

ChampionsGate Golf Club – International
ChampionsGate, FloridaSemi-Private/ResortGreen fee: $225-$240
What they're saying: "Decided to play this course at last minute. Staff was wonderful. Friendly and very helpful. Practice facilities are great. Carts are very nice. Tees, towels, water and GPS included. Couldn’t ask for more. The course is gorgeous. Definitely gives that feeling of playing overseas. Scenic and tough. Foot into the rough and ball is gone. Must be accurate or you’re in trouble. Tees are good and clean, fairways are good and greens are really nice. Greens are fast which I prefer. Absolutely beautiful and recommended." - pokerg69 -
Heron's Glen Golf & Country Club
North Fort Myers, FloridaSemi-PrivateGreen fee: $57-$125

Waldorf Astoria Golf Club
Green fee: $225-$325
What they're saying: "Course was in pristine shape, literally looks like no one had played there in weeks. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were elite. Played many courses in the Orlando area during the last week and by far in the best shape. Great layout and will be back next year. Well done!" -
Deer Island Country Club
Green fee: $62-$77
What they're saying: "This was a beautiful golf course in excellent condition. Great layout." - arrby25 -
Streamsong Resort - Blue Course
Green fee: $190-$370
What they're saying: "First time to visit and first time to play any of the course at Streamsong. I played the Blue Course. It was as nice a course as I have ever played. The first tee is at an elevation and dramatic. The Blue course continues to unfold with wide fairways and difficult approaches. Fairways bunkers are placed just in the right place to catch a misplayed shot but many are both far enough not to reach if you are a shorter hitter and some close enough to carry for the same player." -
Streamsong Resort - Red Course
Green fee: $190-$370
What they're saying: "Best course design of the 3 but I felt it was the hardest and my 3rd favorite. I get why people love it because it has a lot of fun holes that go from long to short in consecutive order." - Tyquig6 -
The Park West Palm
Green fee: $225+
What they're saying: "Paradise found at The Park - West Palm… Immerse yourself in lush greens, challenging fairways, and a golfer’s haven. The Links At Boynton Beach
Boynton Beach, FloridaPublic/MunicipalGreen fee: $80
What they're saying: "Been playing Links for over ten years as a Florida resident. This past season course and most importantly its greens are the best in the area. Course Superintendent Glenn has been an asset to the facility. New greens are in, true and speedy yet able to hold an approach shot. Pro Shop staff are first rate. Tommy behind the counter is a professional in many ways. New food service another positive. From bag drop to cart return your round at the Links of Boynton Beach will be first class. Enjoy." - GolfPass Reviewer -

TPC Sawgrass - THE PLAYERS Stadium Course
Ponte Vedra Beach, FloridaResortGreen fee: $750+

No mention of Southern Dunes ??? I live across from Bayhill CC....and let me tell you, Southern Dunes is a PGA type layout and conditioned...
Championsgate is highly over-rated if you use the greens fees as the barometer for determining the value proposition for playing there. In other words, not worth the price to play, which is true of most of the courses around the Orlando area. Courses haven't changed much, but the fees sure have. No secret as to why - high demand and low supply of quality courses as the population around that area continues to grow.
Hi Gary, While it's fair to point out that Orlando golf is generally pricey b/c of the tourism traffic and the fact that it's one of the only places golfers can play in the entire country from Nov-April, there are still enough "happy" golfers willing to pay those green fees at places like Championsgate and Waldorf Astoria that both received enough strong reviews to finish in our U.S. Top 50.
Deer Island at #4 is amazing . Great track at a great price.
Deer Island does well every year. I need to play it to see why people love it.
