Alligator on course Photo submitted by u000004256901 on 12/25/2012
Great day
Had a great day playing with my adult son. We played it years ago when he was a teen. Loved the experience. He played from the tips, me not so much. Paired with some locals helped greatly. We will be back next year.
The Dunes
Nice layout, course and greens in good condition but this is not a $175 golf course. Shell Point is a lot nicer golf course for $125
Starter was cranky, must’ve drank to much in Saint Patty’s Day
Bring your own gear
Nice course with several challenges
Priority to stay straight but bring many balls!
Only really big let down was their rental clubs
3 year old worn out Callaway clubs with previous players dirt still on coupled with an exotic looking putter was a joke Ok if you offer the for free not charging 75 Dollars
Will come again with my own gear
Plenty of water, great scenery and wild life.
This is by far the best course that I’ve played at in the Fort Myers area and would definitely recommend this course to those who like a challenge. The course (especially the greens) is in great shape. I have played this course several times and have yet to experience any back up in play. - the play moves at a good pace.
Beautiful course
Beautiful and well maintained golf course. Unfortunately, water hazards are in abondance and all on the right side which makes it annoying for right handed players.
Bring Balls with you
It is an amazing golf course an experience ;-), but bring enough balls with you. The back nine were killing me, a lot of water.
The wildlife around the course is also amazing
Very Good Course
The Dunes Golf Course is in a community just on Sanibel Island. It is a par 70 and I played it at about 5400 Yards.
I found it quite enjoyable with many challenging holes and a lot of water. To play a round without losing a ball is an accomplishment. The course was very well maintained with large, medium speed greens and a fair amount of slope. The marshals ensured that the pace of play was reasonable.
I would recommend this course to anyone who loves golf.
Good course considering the options on Sanibel/Captiva
Very challenging course for high handicappers. A lot of water. Saw someone in front of us tee off with a range sized bucket of balls and they said they expect to lose all of them and probably did. We lost 15-20 balls each but had a great time. No course cart for beverages or food. Clubhouse at the turn was uniquely pricey but if you are staying on the island there really is no other option. Sanibel Golf Club is fine but the greens are smashed. Dunes was an enjoyable challenge if not a little pricey.
Water, lots of water
Fun course, very women friendly. Kind of pricey so was disappointed that had to pay for range balls
The nicest experience golfing in 2022 for me an wife
From start to finish the experience was very very impressing. The greens had a few bad spots and since 50% of your shots are on the green that's why I gave it 4 stars on course conditions. The sand and fairways were very nice, and 1st cut was pretty much what I expect in the winter months in Florida The pace of play was just perfect, maybe a minute or two to think about your shot between ea. hole but we were a threesome and a foursome in front of us. so that's just about perfect. Thye hardest part was getting there at the tee time we had, I was staying 7 minutes away, but it took us 25 minutes to get there. Sanibel traffic at any given time to be expected. The staff very friendly and accommodating, will be playing here again. soon, I hope. I had a very nice round and so did my wife and she beat me too. So, I guess I should say it was the course that made me lose. But she is a very good golfer, and she counts every stroke and whomever is with her better also. No mulligans. Lost two balls and they say that's exceptional. She played the gold, and I played the blue with my son. all in all a very pleasant experience. thanks
Fun place to play
Enjoy the course. Nice to play there as we stay on the island for a month each year. Cost can bean an issue. Unfortunately play off the island do to prohibitive pricing.
