Wet
Great condition considering the amount of rain. Standing water in most of the fairways. Course was still playable. Super friendly staff and helpful staff. Course was well played out, but not to hard.
Great improvement over last year!
The recovery post-Ian is remarkable from last year to now. Fairways are about 80-85% grown in, and Paspalum greens are flawless, if slow.
Fun little track
Was a little leary based on the reviews making it seem like most fairways and tee boxes were bad. I found most of the fairways to be pretty darn good. Tee boxes mostly on back is where the issues were. Several feet of salt water, almost in back to back years, causes chaos. The greens were absolutely gorgeous but boy do they roll slow. The round I booked came with a free pizza and beer, unfortunately(or fortunately depending on how you look at it), I finished the round in a little over 3 hours so the restaurant wasnt open yet. Therr are some tighter holes that require you to be accurate off the tee, but most had a very forgiving layout. Fun round, nice views, good wild life. Will certainly be back for off season play since the in season rates are a bit much for me.
Awesome course with some tight holes. Few holes you have to have club selection so you don’t always need to hit driver
Still recovering from the hurricane
Employees are very nice
Greens and fringes are in excellent shape
Please keep in mind, the course is still recovering from the hurricane. The fairways and tee boxes are rough. No drinking water on the course. No tee markers as well. Brand new golf carts with GPS will help you navigate around the course. I hope in another year the course will be in great shape
Yeah
The tee boxes are pretty beat up as are the fairways, but the greens are in phenomenal shape. If you play the blue tees, there's a tree in front of the tee box on number 18. That needs to be taken down.
Spectacular greens
First time there the greens were great, a little weird but in excellent condition. They are a salt water resistant grass the ball seemed to bounce around a little but all in all an excellent course, will definitely play it again.
Room for Improvement
Course Pros; Starter was amazing and seemed to really go out of his way to make sure you had a great outing. A+
New restaurant and bar was really nice, outstanding atmosphere and employees were friendly and accommodating.
Pro shop was nice as well with great clothing options and accessories.A+
Cart girl was very attentive to our needs and very pleasant. She also surprisingly was very knowledgeable about the course layout. A+
Cons; Tee boxes were in horrific shape, mostly sand and weeds.
Several fairways were in rough shape with lots of patches of sand and dirt, clumped up grass on fairways as well.
Rough was extremely high and unplayable on many holes.
Half of the flagsticks were leaning badly causing the ball not to be able to roll in to the cup. No trash cans on the course or ball cleaners anywhere. I fully understand the course is recovering from the hurricanes but the Course Maintenance was poor to say the least.
Offseason... And it showed
I had high hopes for our round at Sanibel Island Golf Club, but unfortunately it didn't live up to the expectations.
Course conditions- The greens were awesome, in beautiful shape, everything rolled nice and consistent. The tee boxes were the complete opposite, I have no idea what happened there, but there were multiple boxes that literally had no grass on them, just straight dirt. The fairways and other parts of the course were okay at best. Not a lot of effort being put into the course right now.
The course layout was fun. Beautiful surroundings, full of nature. Quite a few spots where you have to make a club choice whether to lay up, or go big. Love the updated carts with bluetooth speakers and interactive distance screens.
One of my biggest gripes was, there was absolutely no water (to drink) on the course. There is an ice machine at the clubhouse, but not a single place to get water anywhere else. With it being 95 degrees outside, to me that is just unacceptable.
In-season (winter) I am sure the course is very nice, but out of season, it has been neglected a little bit
Decent course
Nice course for the money. So patching on the fairways but overall a nice layout. A lot of iguanas!!
Really really improved
The course got wrecked from the hurricanes and took a while to come back. Drew planted new seed and it’s really filling in nicely. Greens were great, fairways getting much better. Some tee boxes are beat up but overall, really getting back in shape.
Course is recovering nicely
Great layout, but tees are in rough shape. However, most fairways and all greens are in decent shape.
Give the course a wet off-season and continued investments from new owners and it will be recovered to the gem it was before hurricane Ian.
They also just reopened the remodeled bar & grill, which is very nice. Staff are hardworking and friendly.
