Very enjoyable test of golf
With plenty of room off the tee, the Watson Course could be the most playable of the three courses at Reunion Resort, and it's certainly as enjoyable as any of them. As you get closer to the green, however, this course does get more difficult, mainly because of the bunkers and sometimes difficult to read greens. Fairway bunkers also loom large on several holes, so you're going to want to avoid those, but with a little course management and directional control, that shouldn't be a problem. Simply put, it costs a little more to play here, especially in season, but it's a solid, enjoyable all-around golf experience.
Wonderful
One of top courses in area. I love it. No water, but lots of sand
ReUnion Resort Watson Course
12 noon tee time w/ wife. Only way I've found to play any ReUnion Resort course is their Stay & Play packages. My wife surprised w/ this for our Anniversary. The Watson Course clubhouse sits adjacent to the ReUnion Hotel. Has a very nice practice area: driving range, chipping green, & 2 huge putting greens. The Watson course is visually appealing from every tee box. Plush tee boxes, fairways, & greens. Every bunker is well sanded & there are hundreds of bunkers on this course. Greens are fast & roll true. Definitely should be on every golfers bucket list. Battery powered carts w/ GPS, windshield, & rain cover in back.
Watson One of three terrific courses at Reunion
There are three really good courses at Reunion Resort near Orlando, but the Watson Course might be my favorite. I love the look of this course, which is sort of windswept with interesting bunkers, doglegs and greens complexes. Plus, it's designed by Tom Watson, who doesn't have nearly as many courses to his credit as do Nicklaus and Palmer, who did the other two courses at Reunion. Like the other two courses, the Watson Course is also always in terrific shape.
Condition and service worth the price!
As a resort course, you have to be a member or guest of the resort to play, but it really is worth it.
Mr Watson loves a bunker as other reviewers said, with around 120 in play. What i love though is that they are not a gimmick, and are positioned perfectly in terms of landing areas etc. The greens are in great shape, and the elevation changes make this course feel different to anything i have played resort wise in Florida.
Great track, great condition, and great service! Well done Reunion...you have made me want to come back! What more can you ask for!
Reunion's 2nd Best course
Watson barely beat out Mr. Palmer for the 2nd best course on the Reunion property. I felt like Tom's time in Scotland made him like bunkers because when you play this course... you're bound to find one.
Lots of character to the par 5's. I think the 11th hole is one of the prettiest looking holes from the tee - a great par 4 with some teeth with not too much length. Another atrribute of Tom's game can be seen by his focus on accurate driving - if you don't drive it straight, you're in trouble.
I really enjoyed the greens as they were rolling nicely but needed to remind my fellow players (not in my group) to fix your ball marks! There were a few to be found.
It's worth the drive.
Always wanted to play here, and it exceeded my high expectations
First, Reunion has three courses and as of two years ago, they changed the names to reflect the designer. The Independence Course is now the Watson Course and, much like Tom's design of The Conservatory at Hammock Beach, he put plenty of bunkers at Reunion. The total is over 160 and that does not include those of the waste variety. Amazingly, this is still an extremely fair layout. There are certain places where you are heavily rewarded with extra length in the fairway or a favorable slope on the green towards the hole location if you play shots properly. While the entire course is excellent, the 6-hole stretch beginning with #11 stands out. Especially, the Par 3 15th. Seriously, how many uphill Par 3's do you play in Florida that require 1-2 clubs more than the yardage book on the tee shot? Chances are Buzz and Coach may interact with you before teeing off and they are just two members of a delightful group of people working this property. Reunion's Watson course is to golf what a fine steakhouse is to dining out: You don't mind the high price if the total experience is worth it.
