Better condition than it looks
I normally play the south course at MacDill, but wanted to try the north course again to check on the greens. I was pleasantly surprised at their condition. While not pretty, the greens were smooth, rolled true, and were plenty fast. As for the rest, the fairways and tee boxes were full of grass and freshly cut. It was a real pleasure to play the course and I'm adding it back into my circuit of courses.
Not much Challenge
Played the North Course. First time playing and found it to be below my expectations. Layout is very mundane, most all holes play east west ,(generally crosswind) and are straight away, very few hazards in play, other than the traps. The greens are very small and defended by bunkers. Fairways are wide and adjoining each other. Fairways are in good condition, greens are good, but very slow. Found the course to lack in challenging the need to hit a quality shot.
Great course for the average golfer
Bay Palms North course is a very player friendly course. It has wide fairways, some reachable greens and is NEVER crowded.
There are also two wonderful pros in house if you need a few lessons.
