First Backed Up Over An Hour
Booked a tee time on golfnow for 1230. Front desk pushed it to 1237. At 1237 there were still 5 groups in front of us. Front desk told me this is what I should expect for a busy holiday. They can expect me to never book another round at Cypress Creek.
Overbooked
The course layout and condition are very nice. It is a very challenging course with lots of water coming into play. The course was overbooked and there was no Marshall on the course. Our round was 5 hours. At one point there were 6 groups on one hole. We called the Pro Shop and they sent a young man out who was very nice, but did nothing to speed up pace of play. We had 2 groups of 2 in front of us. The course website says they WILL pair you up if you are not a foursome, but with no Marshall that did not happen
5 hours on a dog track
If you appreciate good golf, go somewhere else. Teeded off 20 minutes after tee time, and 5 hours plus round, waited EVERY shot! Par 5 #7 hole had 3 groups on it & 2 groups waiting on the tee!!A kid came around while waiting on the tee & told us the group 3 spots in front of us was holding up the course. "if you can get to them, I told them to let groups play through" How the heck are we to get to them when the knuckleheads in front of us (sharing clubs) were waiting to hit their second shot until the group ahead cleared the green. I mean really, they'd hit a 150 yard tee shot (longest hitter), and really expected to hit their next shot 250 yards & get on the green!!!!! Yes, even on par 5's!! Now I understand we're in the season and slower play is expected, but really!! This course never has a Marshall directing slower players to pick up & skip a hole & move on. As far as the course itself.....tee boxes ok, fairways were green mostly, but cut so short like hitting off of concrete, rough completely burnt out & trampled over, especially around greens. Literally impossible to get any kind of lofted wedge under the ball. Obviously management did no overseeing of this course. Sand traps were basically hard pan dirt/mud mix...God knows the last time they were turned over/ raked out. Greens were very splotchy & inconsistent from green to green, bumpy loaded with ball marks & SLOW!!. Played here in the past & sort of knew what to expect, but by far, the worse experience I've ever had here. As I told my partner, I know you get what you pay for, but honestly, would rather skip playing if this is what I had to deal with. Will not be returning, and it's a shame, because it really is a great layout!!! Could be a 5Star facility if ownership would spend a few bucks seeding & maintaining the course. God knows they can afford it with the number of players they cram in!! Oh yeah, the old guy checking you in by the carts is crabby also!!! It was down hill from there!!
Nice course
Course was dry but that is expected in this drought we are in. A lot of beautiful holes.
DONT WASTE YOUR TIME
Horrible pace of play started at 11:30am and didn’t finish until around 5pm group in front of us was possibly the most inconsiderate group of players I’ve ever played behind. After calling several times to have the ranger come out I had to go inside and ask them to have them pick up the pace which they reluctantly did. Pace didn’t change in the slightest after the group was spoken to. This course doesn’t care about the experience of players, they only care about booking as many tee times as possible. You couldn’t pay me to go back to this course.
Great course
Great course in very good condition. It gets a little narrow and there is water on every hole so you better hit em straight.
Average rating for average conditions
The good, great layout, the cart lady! The ok, the greens! The average, the fairways, the poor, the rough and the tee boxes, no Marshal, no starter. This place needs water. It's a shame, thi could be awesome, but they choose average, therefore the average rating.
Conditions
So many leaves in the fairways I almost thought it was October in Michigan. Would be a great help to pave of play if a blower was run daily
Rview
Overall a great course. We play here as it is a course between Wesley and Parrish.
Decent
Front 9 was great, pace of play was actually solid for an afternoon tee time. Then get to the back 9 and suddenly there’s a group of 5 guys in front of us who were taking forever. Not playing ready golf. No ranger out there. Quit after hole 12.
Stay away!!! Go elsewhere!!
Stay away!! Played a few times. Each time, golf carts were truly disgusting and filthy beyond description, the pace of play slow, and the course really needs proper TLC!! Then, last time we played, the two carts used by our foursome gave incorrect distance on the screens. I raised the matter at the pro-shop with a “Stefanie”, who turns out, was the manager, she rudely dismissed the matter by saying that they knew and it wasn’t her problem but that of the cart manufacturer Duh???
And when I suggested that it would be nice if golfers were advised, her dismissive tone became ruder.
I asked to speak with her supervisor but of course my expectations of a callback were very modest. Nope, no call back ever occurred.
Then I checked the reviews and wish I had done so earlier. Stefanie’s behaviour is addressed as was the carts situation including the fact that they gave incorrect distances.
I now understand why tee times are always available. I will never ever go back. Hope this review will save fellow golfers the horrible experience. There are many nicer golf course alternatives.
