The Golf Club at Dove Mountain - Tortolita/Wild Burro

About
The desert foothills of the Tortolita Mountain Range provide the stunning backdrop for the three nines designed by Jack Nicklaus at The Golf Club at Dove Mountain. They are played in three different 18-hole combinations, one of them being Tortolita/Wild Burro. The Tortolita nine serves as the back nine for the PGA Tour's Accenture Match Play Championship, but Nicklaus considers Wild Burro to be the best of the three. Playing through canyons and desert washes, the golf course features dramatic elevation changes and stunning views. Tortolita's third hole has the highest elevation at the club while the ninth hole on Wild Burro is the longest finishing hole of any of the nines. The intricately contoured greens and strategic fairway bunkering provide a challenge for even experienced golfers.

Sand Traps & Holes!!!
I love playing challenging courses. This was the most challenging I've ever played. Sand traps in the middle of fairways & hole placements was on top of a ice cream cone!!! This track HAS to be redone just a bit to be more user friendly. I was told that the 'pros' don't like the layout. I'll go back if changes are made. I played Copper tees & scrambled my ash off for a 96.
1. Choose the right tees by your handicap.. 2 Bring your A game . 3. Difficult greens . Friendly staff.
A thinking-man’s course
It is a challenging course that requires the player to review each fairway before Tee-off to stay out of trouble.
Always a pretty site to spend a few hours
Course was in relatively nice condition for transition time of turf. Disappointed that I wasn't told the Wild Burro greens had recently been aerated.
Pace of play was good until last couple holes, pleasant way to spend an afternoon in a beautiful spot.
Poor Greens
Greens had just been punched so they were not in good shape. Of course they don't mention that when you check in or make your tee time. Front 9 had no water at all on the course and no cart service. Did 2 get one bottle of water each in a cooler with no ice. Pretty rough since it was in the mid 90's. Played here before and it was great but there are far better courses to play for the money they charge. Layout is great but this place has gone downhill fast. Save your money and play someplace else.
Always FUN !
Great course, great staff. Very professional !! Love the outside staff too ! Always taking great care of us. The scenery is unbeatable, and the wildlife is amazing !!!
Great staff
The starter was very accommodating and professional!
Course was in top shape and pace was excellent!
Great course
Well managed course in every aspect! Beautiful holes with amazing views
Disappointed
For $220 it ain’t worth it. Fairways were average at best ,bunkers were like concrete in most areas and lots of the greens had dead spots everywhere. This was once a fantastic track all around just not sure what has happened to it.
Course in poor condition.
It’s a great layout but the course has a lot of fungus or something on the fairways and greens. Needs aeration in many places. Was not a great value for the price paid. Staffing is excellent however.
Disappointed with greens
We were looking forward to our round but from the first green on Saguaro we soon questioned our decision to travel the hour 30 from the east valley. They were slow, hard to hold, patchy and rolled inconsistently. All greens on Saguaro were the same. This improved when we played Wild Burro for the back nine. All in all, conditions were good but not the championship course we played several years ago.
