The 5th. Par-4, 333. Classic drive-and-pitch hole, reflecting the links flavor of many Wintonbury holes. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/14/2021

7th. Par-3, 255. As seen from tee eight, a threesome engaged in play around the green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/14/2021

11. Par-4, 433. A brute that takes no prisoners, and straight uphill from tee to green. Well, you can enjoy the fall scenery, anyway. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/14/2021

The twelfth, a downhill par-3 of 168, gives you a slight breather on a back nine that supplies little respite. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/14/2021

Five is a short but strategic four-par of 333. Beautiful vistas abound on this course. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/28/2020

The downhill 7th, a three-par of 255. Dye believed that long three-pars were the only holes to induce low-handicappers to hit long irons. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/28/2020

Nice course
Very well maintained but you do have to pay for that maintenance. The good news is that it is well worth it. GPS on the carts, difficult yet not overbearing, fast greens, great fairways, beautiful views.
Great course!!
This is a great course! We tee'd off at 7:30am and were finished just before 11:00am - great pace of play and the course was in excellent condition! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I hadn't played Wintonbury this early in the morning before, but I highly recommend it!
Great course.
Course was in great shape. Great value. Would definitely play again and would definitely recommend others play here.
This is one of the most scenic courses in CT
Everything was awsome, a great day as usual for this course. Only complaint is that players need to repair their divots and scuff marks on the greens. Not the courses fault, but too many feel that divot repair is someone else's job like raking bunkers!
Awesome course, great price
My favorite course in CT, great deal for $45 if you tee off early. Course is in great shape, even with the hot weather this summer. Well maintained, challenging, and greens putt fast and true. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
One of the best public courses
My first time playing the course. Beautiful scenery. Fairways are perfect as well as the tee boxes. Loved the layout. The only complaint my playing partners and I had was that the greens were average. They were slightly faster than regular public courses but rolled well. They had an incredible amount of unrepaired ball marks which we found surprising for a course of this quality. We paid 38 dollars each for a twilight rate which is an incredible bargain for a course of this quality.
very good value, course is desiged for a good golfing exp.
Tees, fairways in very good condition, greens looked well used but rolled true and fast.
Best in the Area
Played this course for the second time and loved it once again. Course is maintained beautifully. Fast greens make for a challenging round with careful consideration of approach shots and putts. Course plays very naturally with holes laid out well. Highly recommend this course.
very nice course - will play again
Excellent course - highly recomend this course. very good shape, Fast greens
Perfect shape!!
Very friendly staff...course was in great shape!!The greens were in great shape and the views were very nice.I wouldn't pay the full 80 dollars that the course charges but with the golf now rate of 43 bucks that was well worth it!!
One of CT's best
Played an early morning round after a Tropical Storm blew through over the previous 24 hrs. Our worries that the course would be unplayable we're unfounded. We went off at 6:50am and there was barely a puddle to be seen. Greens were in great shape and actually rolled pretty quick. Well designed and maintained. Bunkers were even free of pools after 2" or more of rain the night before. Wonderful layout with challenging, but not overly punative holes. Great value, as I've played lesser courses for twice the price or more. Just booked another round for next week.
Pushy Starter
The course itself was in great shape, nice fairways and nice greens. when I play a course that cost more than average, I expect more than average. When we reached the first green the starter informed us that the pace of play was 4 hours. he went on to say that if we went over that pace we would be warned over and over again. We felt rushed immediately. The starter then came down and warned us of slow play on the first hole. Talk about being extremely pushy. We finished our round in less than 4 hours, but will never return because of the start.
Great course
Nice starting hole. Degree of difficulty increases. Back 9 more difficult than the front. The course was in good shape for this time of year. Some greens tough to read adding to the intrigue. A great golfing experience overall.
Put on your must play list
The course is a great track.. The front is wide open link style while the back is tree lined. Many elevation changes and challenging greens. The course is in beautiful condition with fast even rolling greens. Worth the trip and the rate.
Great layout and well groomed
This is a beautiful Pete Dye layout and always fun to play.
My only complaint is regarding the annoying governors on the carts, which totally shut the cart down if you go off the mandated grid on any hole.
Be prepared to push your cart back to where it will run again.
Nice outdoor seating area and good practise green.
Really nice course for all type of players.
The staff was awsome, it was our first time with GPS cart that gives your yards left. It was the beginning of the season but the course was in great shape.
GREAT PLACE
Coming from 2 hours away, I had great expectations and Wintonbury Hills met them. Pristine condition and when the say hills, they mean. Up and down you go but most shts came from a somewhat level lie. The GPS system in the cart was the best I have ever used. The only negative was the first 3 holes on each 9 kind of mirrored each other so you thought you were on the same hole. I have played over 100 public courses I rank this in the top 15 so if you live in the area, it is a must play. If you have a full day free, take a trip there. It is worth it. One complaint was the Par 3's lacked some creativity.
Outstanding layout of holes.
Very well maintained. I have played 50 rounds this season on courses all over the country and this is an outstanding track.
