Crab grass
Fairways are good. The Greens are pretty bad. Crab grass has taken over basically holes 1-9. Grab grass on every green. The links greens are in better shape.
Surprised
I had heard many great things about this course and sadly it didn’t not live up to the hype. The course condition is poor. Fairways were acceptable, but the greens were rough. Small weeds are ravaging the greens and need to be dealt with. They interfere with the putting greatly. Some greens were in great shape, but many were not. The bunkers were varying from rock to fluffy and soft. The layout was nice and a challenging course when it was as windy as it was today, but it good conditions it’s a fairly easy and forgiving course. Beware of the greens shelves because they are ridiculously hard and if you miss on the other side good luck! I enjoyed the challenge today, but I was disappointed with the greens and bunkers. I will likely not play the course again, especially for the drive that it was to get there.
Hi, thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is very important to us. Please know that we are working to get everything up to par as the current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. Thank you for playing Squaw Valley Golf Course - Comanche Lakes Course. We hope to see you again soon.
3 hour back 9
Booked a 2:40 tee time through GolfNow. The front 9 was great. Back 9 however was not. There was 2-3 4somes in front of us that were complete and total hacks. The back 9 took us over 3 hours to play. Whole bunch of hurry up and wait. Spoke to someone in the proshop and was told basically, “Thanks for your concern but 4somes aren’t required to let faster playing 2somes play through”. Apparently the pro has gotten rid of the “gentlemen’s game” mentality out there. Completely unacceptable.
All Alone on the Course
Benefited from a missed forecast for rain by the weather gurus that probably scared a lot of people away in addition to the C19 restrictions. We had the course to ourselves and it seemed like our twosome was the only golfers on the course for the entire 18 for a 2:30ish tee time as we never saw another group the entire time. The course is just starting to come alive again so the fairways are still a little thin. The greens were rolling good but were a little firm. Already trying to figure out a day to get back here.
Bumpy
Greens are overgrown with Poa right now. Play the Links 18 instead.

Great course
Played the lakes today and the course was in good shape. Both courses were packed but pace of play of perfect. No wait time. Be back soon.
Arguing
Great course lay out. My favorite set of par-3s on any course
Let’s stay grounded.
It’s definitely a nice course for all levels but when I played it in late March 2020 amid the coronavirus scare the conditions were disappointing. Greens were nice but the fairways and rough was overrun with WEEDS!! It made the course look like a run down muni. I know the folks of Glen Rose take pride in their pair of courses but they need serious grooming by way of weed killers. It’s worth the drive from DFW only if you play both courses which I did and will do so again hoping that the manicuring of the course will be improved. At first glance the Links course looks and feels better. But it’s not until the last four holes of the course for it to show some distinction. It’s a great value if you buy the golfnow hot deal otherwise I can take it or leave it. Staff is super Texas friendly and the cart girl made frequent rounds to meet golfers.
Delivers
I first played the course in November as the course entered dormancy and was blown away by the great condition. It delivered again, although the greens were much less smooth due to an emerging infestation of poa annua. Still a great layout.
Spring has arrived!
Great layout. The course was in great shape for early Spring. Greens ran true, and sand was fresh and easy to hit out of.
