The Resort Golf Club

About
The Resort Golf Club is one of Fort Worth's finest golfing destinations. The course sprawls across the rolling hills of north Texas and wraps around the shores of Eagle Mountain Lake. Mature live oaks line the narrow fairways, providing some tight holes with difficult shot selections that demand accuracy, but there are also holes with open, more forgiving tees. Golfers will want to make sure they bring a strong iron game when playing this golf course since there rock walls and bunkers strategically bordering the raised greens. There are also water hazards that come into play along the greensides and fairways. It is a golf course that will reward skill and strategy over strength alone. The 16th is one of the toughest holes but with a good approach and a bit of luck, there is an opportunity for a birdie.

Looking forward to Another Round
This is a fun neighborhood course. Strange layout. Some neighborhood navigation, some out and back holes. Got a little turned around several times. Seems that the course was undergoing quite a bit of maintenance. Bunkers were all dirt, hole 16 was reduced to a par 3, driving range was hitting into a net. I'm looking forward to playing when this course is finished and the driving range is open.

Course Doesn’t Respond
Course was closed Mon and Tues and still had tee times on GolfNow for sale on those days

This isn't accurate. The course was open Tuesday. I played. They have been closed Monday's for a while now.
Poor condition
Course is in terrible condition. Played here for about 3 years but the course has steadily declined in quality over the past 18 months. No longer worth the money, I would recommend playing elsewhere

Bad
Fun layout. Very slow play. Rude cart girl. Flooded fairways.

course, carts, and pace of play
There are a LOT of the fairways being repaired. One holes, a par 4, has been turned into a 55 yd par 3. Ground keepers were ERERY where. Our cart had a brake problem and there was no marshal to keep the flight ahead of us moving. Drove an hr. and15 min. to play this course and will NOT be coming back for at least 2 years. It will take that long, at best, to get this course playable. Sorry guys, I tell it like it is.

Great value!
Course was in very good condition. Greens had a few dry patches, but nothing egregious. Fairways provided great lies for a second shot. I know the course will dry out a bit in the summer, but right now it’s worth a $40-50 green fee. Beverage cart came around frequently. I played on a Saturday afternoon and me and my friend had a fun round.
Not a Resort
This course had horrible pace of play and was in very less than good condition. Greens were overgrown and bumpy. The course had many areas which were sectioned completely off and the one hold was cut from a par 4 to an 80 yard par 3. When the Marshall had come past to address the pace of play he said “A lot of people out today, can’t do anything about it.” This is not an excuse as I play all over the area and never have a 5 hour round. The club house looked very nice but we did not spend much time there. I will not return here as there are many better options.

Course is in bad shape.
I hate to say this but this is the worse shape I have ever seen the course in. Greens are bumpy with poana grass. Lots of bare spots in the fairways and around the cart paths. No weed eating done around trees or other things on the course. I played 11 holes and it took over 3 hours. We had to wait at every single hole. Finally left after hole 11.
I live in the Resort and I have played this course for years but seems to be getting worse. Tee times are 10 minutes apart. Don’t expect to finish a round on the weekend under 5 hours. Ive seen people playing in the rain, driving in the fairways when they are soaked. The course fairways were beat down last summer when it was hot and dry with so many people playing.
This course can be nice as I have seen it. Definitely need to limit the number of players and spread out tee times to help speed up the pace of play. Just too many people on it day in and day out.

Anything but a Resort I DO NOT RECOMMEND
The name is deceptive unfortunately, no lake views, too many overly tight fairways that make the course just feel crammed and forced. The best hole on the course was shut down and turned into a 100 yard par 3. There were a couple other “cool” holes that were fun but, Lots of missing signage, pace of play was terrible my round took 5 and a half hours (Sunday afternoon tee time). For the price not worth it the fairways in the photos are quite opposite of what you will find at the course and greens had weeds too. This is one of those courses that feels built so people can play golf, not for golf, based on the layout. Unless you like playing on a course with crammed together holes and slow pace of play, I do not recommend.

Keep waiting for change
I play this course once a year hoping it might change. The name is definitely deceiving.Theres nothing about this place that says Resort. Most of the greens are weed seeded, many traps were filled with water even though it hadn’t rained in 4 days, most fairways either had big areas of balding ground or were completely staked off. Not an enjoyable round. Too bad it’s so close to home.

Congested and crammed together fairways slows down play with people often playing in the wrong fairway.

NonMembers/Beginners/POC BEWARE!
First, fairways and grounds are under major renovations meaning crappy greens and not worth the amount of money you’re paying. (Which reading other reviews on other platforms they’re been crappy grounds for at least a year)
Secondly, if you’re a beginner or POC do not play here unless you’re ok with being rushed and told to skip holes bc “members” and residents “complain” you’re going too slow; keep in mind our group was held up by two groups in front of us that were going slow and yet WE were told to skip a hole (being a group of POC playing Spanish and HipHop/R&B music, and not lout at all), because apparently we were the ones holding up players behind us..specifically “150 players behind us”, again according to employees.
Like other reviews have mentioned, they tend to overbook making the sport less enjoyable for those trying to get better.
Overall, guess that’s what you should expect from this gated community; guess we’re “those” they’re trying to keep out 🤷🏻♀️
