Great course
Everyone is always very friendly and helpful. Course is in great shape and always fun to play. It is very challenging and can play long. I will play again
Course rained out
Played 4 holes and Thunder & Lightning stopped play.
Course was immaculate!
I haven't played a better groomed course anywhere near Houston. Wish they had chicken salad for a sandwich my wife wanted and the burger we had instead was incredibly salty! Entire staff was very helpful otherwise and will give the grill a try again next visit. The course is interesting in its contours, layout, and variety of hole lengths.
Wilderness Snday
Excellent course, really enjoyed the round. Starter was awesome and let us start on the back nine as there where was a significant wait on the front. made the turn in 1.5 hours and had a slight slow down playing the front but was tolerable. Greens were fantastic and very tricky given the speed and undulation. The course flowed nicely and was in good shape given a few fairways were still wet from rain. Putting this one in my rotation for sure!
Awesome Outing!
I drove more than 80 miles to get to the course and it was worth every mile and wrong turn. All the staff was super friendly and welcoming and the course was one of the best i’ve ever played, all around couldn’t have had a better experience.
Good venue
Great weather for August. Course in really good condition. Staff friendly and nice facility.
Amazing as always
No surprise that the golf course was in perfect condition!!!
Overall great course
The guy at the front desk was very nice and the course is in great shape based on the heat wave we are enduring. My only gripe was that there were three foursomes ahead of me starting on hole 13 and the remaining holes took 90 mins to complete bc they were all so freakin slow. Otherwise it was a great time.
As usual, wonderful...but
My group travels to The Wilderness from Houston several times a year. Our round was, like always, terrific, except for one thing...most of the on-course water jugs were empty. Saturday afternoon, heat index in triple digits, and no water to drink on the course.
When I reported the foregoing to the pro shop after the round, I was told there had been a delay in finding the key to the locks of the water jug boxes. BUT THE BOXES DID NOT HAVE LOCKS AT ALL!
Bottom line-- a course this good, with people as experienced and professional as they are, should NEVER run out of on-course water.
Great Course
This course is in great shape. Really enjoyed our round today, even though it was cart path only due to rain. The greens were a bit slow, but had lots of undulations. The fairways are generous, but scoring well is still tough. Mosquitoes are everywhere, so give yourself a good dose of bug spray prior to teeing off. Overall, I would definitely recommend this course
One of the best layouts in Greater Houston area
One of the best golf secrets in Greater Houston area. Course is in phenomenal condition!! Greens had been sanded but they still roled true. Pace of play was outstanding and course marshal asked if our group wanted to play again for FREE!! Only downfall were the mosquitoes, there were everywhere and there was A LOT of them. They made the morning round tough, but other than that, the best of the best when it come to golf!!
Great course, but mosquitoes galore
The course was in great shape and the temporary green on number 14 is no more, the normal green is back. However you couldn’t play the course as designed dur to the large number of mosquitoes. If you hit the ball into the rough or the shade you had 20 plus mosquitos on you within seconds and that made playing any shot impossible. This was with our foursome using a full can of bug spray over the 18 holes. The course needs to spray for them and continue spraying once they are gone so they don’t come back.
Totally enjoy
Want to see what all the hype is all about. Wow what a great day of golf even playing as a single. Greens had light sand and one temporary green not a problem. Fairways were perfect, just a bit long for me-lost some distance on my drives. My problem. Best thing is it is an easy drive from Houston-no traffic both direction.
Will be back with some of my golf group.
