Wilderness Golf Course

I was pleasantly surprised with the layout. Course was challenging from the back tees with long par 4’s and reachable par 5’s

Greens were the hard but fair. Wasn’t expecting them to as fast as they were. But they were consistent on every hole.

Impressive very well maintained course for a public course.

Only two of the greens had few issues. Fairways were all mowed, cart paths were in perfect condition, looked as though the grass was edged along the cart paths. Although middle of the week there was a beverage cart. I play often and many courses in the Houston area. I have to give this course a A+ rating and a must play.

To begin, I love The Wilderness & feel it’s one of the best public courses in metro Houston. That said, our most recent trip there was disappointing. We arrived on Friday before a 2 day tournament thinking it would be pristine. It was anything but. Every fairway had bare dead spots & every green had weedy patches that would literally knock your ball off line. Traps ranged from overly fluffy to bare. Wilderness, please get your act together & get back to the premier track we love!

Great course and fun. But group in front would not allow to play through. Had to wait on most holes. No one was in front of them no marshal

After Beryl the course is coming back well. Staff is always friendly. Marshalls are always visible. only mark for slow play today was the group directly in front of us. Open in front of them, but not backed up behind us. Could not be too vocal about it. Came in at 4 hours and ten minutes can’t complain too hard about that.

Course suffered a lot of damage from storm last year and they are taking actions to fix bunkers and fairways but the greens were also damaged as the roll was inconsistent.

Had a great first experience. Putting greens and chipping was nice. Balls available for chipping for free. Starter was pleasant. It was cart path only. Bunkers still had water in them from rains. Not going to hate on those two factors after the rain. Fairways were lush. Putting surfaces were rolling smooth. I will be coming back. It’s drive 45 mins north from pearland to spend $100 or more. I’d rather drive south and pay less.
