Houston National Golf Club

From the moment I walked in to pay for the round the experience was sub par.

1. We were supposed to get range balls and they said this was not option because the range was just dirt Very.Dissapointing.

2. This course was in TERRIBLE shape.

3. We got a hamburger and drink with the package but the food was really cheap.

Overall - Do not waste your money!

This was a terrible course.

The course em was in terrible condition. This is overpriced. We were supposed to get a bucket of balls but that was not available because the course was not in great shape.

I would not recommend this course.

Fairway, bunker, rough, and tee box conditions were TERRIBLE!!! Greens were ok, not bad but not great. I will not be back. Not worth the price of 60 bucks. Pace of play was slow but 2 separate groups let me and my buddy play through. I expected more for a 60 dollar twilight fee.

In ok shape. Greens good. Rest of course all dried out.

Would love to come back this course. The green has colored flag to indicate the position. Could use more marker on the green. Otherwise an awesome public course

This is probably one of the best all around public courses I’ve played in Houston. Now hear me out the fair ways we’re pretty hard, the lack of rain the area has got over the past month really showed. However, the greens were still in very good condition. We had a peak tee time and pace of play was decent for the amount of people out there on a Sunday. The pro shop, bar area and range is very nice. Lunch and a beer included with tee time at the turn made the $80 green fee worth it. All in all would definitely recommend giving this course a try.

This is my go to course, love the layout and challenges this course has. Only negative is not with the course but pace of play.. People need to be real with their golf game and not play from the blue tees when they are constantly dribble off the tee. Ranger could help speed up the play

The course was in terrible shape for the high price. The fairways had large patches of hard pan and dead grass. The bunkers were full of weeds and hadn’t been racked in days. Don’t waste your money until they get their act together.

Came from out of town, and drove an hour to play here. Instantly regret it. Would rather spend the green fees on golden tee at the bar. Would give this 0 stars but they had good breakfast

They’ve really let this place go downhill. Either fix the fairways and bunkers or put yourself out of your misery and just close it. If it hadn’t been for the phenomenal greens, I’d give it a 1 star overall. Great layout so it’s really a shame to let this course go so bad. They are not watering the fairways much at all. Bunkers, awful. The fairways are as hard as concrete and too short for the amount of water they receive. Greens, fantastic but other than the layout, it’s the only thing worth talking about. Put it this way, I got a hot deal for $45 and I still think I paid too much. Move on

Don’t understand why I would be sent alone at 0940 t-time, two or more foursomes in front, they did not offer a pass even when I was waiting on the same t-box. Unreal

The fairways need some serious work, be prepared to hit off hard pan / dirt in the middle of the fairway. The sand traps are garbage and not very well taken care of or washed out.

The greens are in good shape.

The course should be better taken care for the price they charge.

The course needs a Marshall as we were stuck behind a twosome holding up everyone behind them. 4-1/2 hours is too long and the course was wide open in front of them!

Course played well but lack of rain getting us again. Greens in great shape and fast!

This was my first time playing here and we really enjoyed the overall experience. The greens and tee boxes were in excellent shape. As were the golf carts. The driving range is mostly dirt, which was not very attractive, but didn't really affect our warm-up. The putting green was in great shape and similar to the greens on the course. The fairways are a links style - not many trees in play and lots of large mounds/dunes lining one or both sides of most fairways. Most of the bunkers were in fair or poor condition, but thankfully we didn't get in many so it didn't affect our play much. The fairways were in OK shape with some bare spots. It seems they spend most of their time, money & water taking care of the greens and tee boxes and less on the fairways. That said, it didn't affect our play or experience significantly ... mostly just looked dry and hard instead of lush and green.

We didn't realize that this location actually has two courses ... Houston National which is public and Sterling Country Club which is private ... that share common club house, pro shop, range, and golf cart facilities. We had the course mostly to ourselves with an 11am tee-time on a Tuesday, so the overall experience was very relaxed and enjoyable. I'll be back again in the future, maybe after some rainfall greens up the fairways.
