About
Houston National Golf Club, located in the northwestern part of the city, definitely follows the old adage that "everything is bigger in Texas." This whopping course stretches to 7,337 yards from the back tees. It is a lengthy golf course no doubt, but it doesn't just favor those who can hit long. The layout has a unique links design, so long hitters will be pleased but they will have to be careful of the numerous pot bunkers and other strategically placed hazards waiting treacherously throughout. The golf course has an interesting character that sets it apart from others nearby thanks to a landscape of rolling hills and hardly any trees, a surprise since there is no shortage of trees in the area. Houston National Golf Club's wide-open links design also subjects golfers to the strong prevailing winds, making several of the holes especially tricky.

Fun course to play
The layout is really good, conditioning pretty good. A lot of water on the course so must have got more rain than I did! The back nine played extremely slow due to 1 foursome. HN needs a Marshall. Still fun and a great day

Tee boxes and fairways are in rough condition

Horrible
Fairways are in terrible shape. Hardpan and way too many dirt and moon craters for a course that used to be great.. I've played Houston National numerous times last year and it was in far better shape than it is now. Their only saving grace from receiving a one star was that the greens were in decent shape. Shame on Houston National for letting this once great course go into disarray. Even the driving range looks like the surface of Mars. Really? I paid $53 and no way should they be charging this much for this condition. What a shame.

I would NOT recommend
From the moment I walked in to pay for the round the experience was sub par.
1. We were supposed to get range balls and they said this was not option because the range was just dirt Very.Dissapointing.
2. This course was in TERRIBLE shape.
3. We got a hamburger and drink with the package but the food was really cheap.
Overall - Do not waste your money!

Terrible course - don’t do it
This was a terrible course.
The course em was in terrible condition. This is overpriced. We were supposed to get a bucket of balls but that was not available because the course was not in great shape.
I would not recommend this course.

Absolutely atrocious
Fairway, bunker, rough, and tee box conditions were TERRIBLE!!! Greens were ok, not bad but not great. I will not be back. Not worth the price of 60 bucks. Pace of play was slow but 2 separate groups let me and my buddy play through. I expected more for a 60 dollar twilight fee.

Great course with common texas dried fairway
Would love to come back this course. The green has colored flag to indicate the position. Could use more marker on the green. Otherwise an awesome public course

One of my favorites in Houston
This is probably one of the best all around public courses I’ve played in Houston. Now hear me out the fair ways we’re pretty hard, the lack of rain the area has got over the past month really showed. However, the greens were still in very good condition. We had a peak tee time and pace of play was decent for the amount of people out there on a Sunday. The pro shop, bar area and range is very nice. Lunch and a beer included with tee time at the turn made the $80 green fee worth it. All in all would definitely recommend giving this course a try.

Good Course
This is my go to course, love the layout and challenges this course has. Only negative is not with the course but pace of play.. People need to be real with their golf game and not play from the blue tees when they are constantly dribble off the tee. Ranger could help speed up the play

Terrible Shape m, High Price
The course was in terrible shape for the high price. The fairways had large patches of hard pan and dead grass. The bunkers were full of weeds and hadn’t been racked in days. Don’t waste your money until they get their act together.

Don’t Do It
Came from out of town, and drove an hour to play here. Instantly regret it. Would rather spend the green fees on golden tee at the bar. Would give this 0 stars but they had good breakfast
