Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club

About
Sculpted by Greg Norman out of the tall grassland prairies and rice fields west of Houston, Meadowbrook Farms is part of a planned 800-acre residential development headed by Landmark National. Norman's layout includes deep-faced sod bunkers, Lil Prong Creek, and a multitude of oaks, pecans, and sycamores that take the golfer toward greens that are extremely hard.
The lack of parallel holes allows for an open, natural setting that is perfect for golf, especially since Norman didn't favor much reshaping-instead, he used the natural topography of the former rice farm.
Holes of note on the front are the 160-yard No. 6 and the 420-yard No. 9, both accented by the tall native grasses. No. 9 involves wetlands in front of the green, which is tough considering the longish approach.
Several holes on the back can destroy your round, including the narrow, doglegging 395-yard No. 10. It's imperative to find the fairway on this one. And No. 15 is short (340 yards), but is loaded with bunkers that are difficult for the high-handicapped hack.
The best hole of the bunch is perhaps No. 18, a 545-yarder that involves a layup of a canal off the tee and two solid shots to reach the green in regulation.
All told, this one is worth the investment. The bag drop service is friendly and prompt, and the clubhouse offers affordable amenities, including a great little bar and grill.
Getting there : From Downtown Houston on I-10, drive west to Grand Parkway (Hwy. 99). Take Grand Parkway south to Fry Rd., then turn right. Take Fry Rd. west for approximately 1.3 miles, and the entrance is on the left.

Great design
Fun course to play as slong as you avoid the excessively tall fescue that is on every hole. Tall enough that when you hit your ball in it, you almost never find your ball but find 3-4 others. I do not like this feature, especially when it is along the fairway and it ruins an otherwise great shot. Greens were in fair shape, looked like they need some repair.
Back in shape
I haven't played here in a while, no reason other than I didn't want to make the drive. But it is in great shape and I've always loved the layout. Check in staff friendly and so was everyone else. The only negative for me and other places are doing the same, is it's a cash less property. So bring a cc or debit card. I'm a senior so that's why the rate was low, but I'm tired of Houston area courses still charging Covid prices. This pricing is on point and I'll be back. Thank you
Great Condition for how hot it is lately
The course was in great condition. Greens were fast but fair. We played in about 3.5 hours with a 20 minute stop at the snack bar for a sandwich. No one in front of us or behind us.
Great course
Great course. They just started redoing the greens. So putting was challenging. But give it a couple of weeks and it will great
Staff is terrible. Bald Marshall smoking a cigar is worried about everything but doing his job. Not doing anything about pace of play. We had 4 groups backed up on one hole in the back 9. He’s worried about me parking right next to the markers where it says to go back to the cart path. The starter barely knows English. Would not let our group tee off even one minute before our tee time even though there was nobody ahead of us at the beginning. We eventually caught up to other groups. The staff is always terrible here.
The course itself is in great shape. If the staff was friendly and the rates were lower, this golf course would be booked out all day.

The most rude Golf Course I’ve ever been to. Had a teatime 150 got there at 1:15 nobody on the course would not let me out went over to the starter. A group was supposed to be there at 1:22. They came at 1:35 asked me to join him the guy wouldn’t let me join him. I will never play this course again. It’s a shame. I inquired about a membership nobody ever got back to you this place is a joke.
Well run, professional, greens were awesome and quick, fairways generous, a number of tee boxes for preferred length. Nice pace of play on a Sunday morning. Never had to wait on any holes.
Great course for Hot Deal price!!
Great links style course layout. There is a large lake on only two holes, with a series of drainage ditches throughout, but depending on weather these may be completely dry.
We played in a bit of rain through the first 9 holes.
Tee boxes were soft (no hammer required! LOL); fairways were in great soft shape and made for nice approach shots and spin; greens were nicely maintained (one had some grass damage, fungus patch, that was being worked on). Overall, this was a fun course to play a well worth the Hot Deal cost. The regular fee is a bit steep at $130+ !!
The clubhouse had good food and service. The course did not have a beverage cart out when we played (not sure if it was because of rain?). They did, however, have a well placed array of water stations and ice buckets a couple central locations! That was awesome!
Pishy staff
We waited as people were infront of us and they were slow starting the first few holes, later we were being push by staff they should do the same from the start
For the price they charge, you would think that the carts would have GPS. Very hard to figure out distances. Course was in decent shape, not sure why they had a 90 degree rule that day.
