Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club
About
Sculpted by Greg Norman out of the tall grassland prairies and rice fields west of Houston, Meadowbrook Farms is part of a planned 800-acre residential development headed by Landmark National. Norman's layout includes deep-faced sod bunkers, Lil Prong Creek, and a multitude of oaks, pecans, and sycamores that take the golfer toward greens that are extremely hard.
The lack of parallel holes allows for an open, natural setting that is perfect for golf, especially since Norman didn't favor much reshaping-instead, he used the natural topography of the former rice farm.
Holes of note on the front are the 160-yard No. 6 and the 420-yard No. 9, both accented by the tall native grasses. No. 9 involves wetlands in front of the green, which is tough considering the longish approach.
Several holes on the back can destroy your round, including the narrow, doglegging 395-yard No. 10. It's imperative to find the fairway on this one. And No. 15 is short (340 yards), but is loaded with bunkers that are difficult for the high-handicapped hack.
The best hole of the bunch is perhaps No. 18, a 545-yarder that involves a layup of a canal off the tee and two solid shots to reach the green in regulation.
All told, this one is worth the investment. The bag drop service is friendly and prompt, and the clubhouse offers affordable amenities, including a great little bar and grill.
Getting there : From Downtown Houston on I-10, drive west to Grand Parkway (Hwy. 99). Take Grand Parkway south to Fry Rd., then turn right. Take Fry Rd. west for approximately 1.3 miles, and the entrance is on the left.

Challenging yet rewarding
This course has a variety of holes that make the round very enjoyable and challenging. In particular, the grass that contributes to the beauty of this course also contributes to a number of lost balls that surpasses my personal average in other courses with a similar level of difficulty.
On the positive side, I will highlight the variety from hole to hole, the well-placed hazards, and the scenery.
Great Round
Members or not when course is sold out 5 somes should not be allowed. Over 5 hr round.
Great Golf Course at Katy, TX!
It has been a long time since I’ve playing at this golf course and it is in a great condition right now. Very normal challenge and enjoyable for all-skills golf player. Good pace, greens and very friendly staff. It is always a good experience to be there!
Slow pace
The ranger knew the pace was slow and allowed a threesome to back up the course. He even acknowledge the group was slow.
I skipped a couple holes only to run into two groups that had five player which didn’t make matters any better. If I didn’t get a hot deal to play I would have throughly disappointed to pay over $100 dollars starting at 1:30 and not having a chance to finish 18 holes by 6:00
Convenient to play, but needs some work.
The course was convenient for us to play as out of town guests. Staff was very friendly. Typical public course wear on fairways. Greens need some cleanup as there was a lot of wild grass in the greens. Maintenance staff did not show any concern for golfers as the drove right past while we prepared to hit shots.
Horrible greens
Course was in decent shape, but they had sanded the greens. No one bothered to tell us before we payed. If I’m paying $80 for a Tuesday round, the course should be in $80 shape and if it’s not, the staff should let us know beforehand. Greens were so sandy, robing held on the green and all putts wouldn’t roll online.
Course Rating
Played right after it rained 2” in the morning. Fairways were in great shape. Greens could use some help though. I was told they were punched 2 weeks ago so probably why they weren’t that great. Overall a great course. Wish it was a little cheaper though.
Thank you
We enjoyed our game today. As a new golfer to the course I did not have a map of the holes to see how they break or where water and sand traps might be. I did like the picture in cart showing where the hole is on the green.
Thank you for the opportunity to play on y’all’s course.
TLC Needed
This used to be a great course to play. Please give this course some TLC and then you could justify you rates.
