Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club
About
Sculpted by Greg Norman out of the tall grassland prairies and rice fields west of Houston, Meadowbrook Farms is part of a planned 800-acre residential development headed by Landmark National. Norman's layout includes deep-faced sod bunkers, Lil Prong Creek, and a multitude of oaks, pecans, and sycamores that take the golfer toward greens that are extremely hard.
The lack of parallel holes allows for an open, natural setting that is perfect for golf, especially since Norman didn't favor much reshaping-instead, he used the natural topography of the former rice farm.
Holes of note on the front are the 160-yard No. 6 and the 420-yard No. 9, both accented by the tall native grasses. No. 9 involves wetlands in front of the green, which is tough considering the longish approach.
Several holes on the back can destroy your round, including the narrow, doglegging 395-yard No. 10. It's imperative to find the fairway on this one. And No. 15 is short (340 yards), but is loaded with bunkers that are difficult for the high-handicapped hack.
The best hole of the bunch is perhaps No. 18, a 545-yarder that involves a layup of a canal off the tee and two solid shots to reach the green in regulation.
All told, this one is worth the investment. The bag drop service is friendly and prompt, and the clubhouse offers affordable amenities, including a great little bar and grill.
Getting there : From Downtown Houston on I-10, drive west to Grand Parkway (Hwy. 99). Take Grand Parkway south to Fry Rd., then turn right. Take Fry Rd. west for approximately 1.3 miles, and the entrance is on the left.

Casual round of golf
They paired us up with a really nice couple that we will definitely play with again.
Great course
Not worth 100, but if you find a hot deal I think it’s worth it . Course is in great shape. Played at noon on a Thursday .. finished at 3 . Overall good experience
Avoid
Don’t walk, run.....away. How this course gets away with charging the amounts they do is beyond me. One of the worst layouts, conditions, and unbearable slow play I’ve ever experienced. Not to mention the pretentiousness that runs through the veins of this place. No better than any other public course in the Houston area, and definitely worse than some.
Played here a lot in the past. I wish it was a bit more affordable but I guess they want it like this to let members feel exclusive.
Pace was great cause no one was there. Probably due to $80-$99 fees mid day.
Greens we’re great. Fairways dormant as expected for winter golf.
I’ll be back assuming I find another hot deal.
Noticed they have been clearing out a lot of trees and brush. Looked nice.
High quality course
Definitely one of the highest quality courses in greater Houston, even in winter. But the $99 price for a weekend round is a bit much for an average golfer. Even the $75 rate in the afternoons is too high. Some of late evening rates may be reasonable in the summertime.
Layout is fantastic. Bunkers always in fantastic shape with quality sand. Greens are also near perfect.
If you can catch a weekday deal around $55-$65, this course is totally worth it, especially if you just consider this course as a rare treat.
Great Day, Great Course
Extremely well maintained and challenging course which is in first rate condition - fairways good, greens perfect, bunkers comprise very playable soft sand which are groomed and raked. Every hole is different which makes it a lot of fun to play.
The mid-week value at senior rates is exceptional given the quality of the course - the two of us got round in just over 3 hours (8.00am start).
Meadowbrook Course
Great layout, perfect weather, and service oriented staff.
Beverage cart
Everything was very good except be drags cart that was not available except from once at hole 3 and then until 17th
Higher prices
Worth the money
Best sand traps I have seen in long time
My lob and sand wedge have damage due to other courses whose so called mud traps are pushed on as sand traps with rocks and pebbles and mud with light dusting that passes for a sand traps
Overpriced track in very disappointing conditions
These owners are completely delusional charging $75 weekday and $99 on the weekend to play here. The course conditions are comparable to Sharpstown and Hermann Park Golf Course which are both muni courses that cost 1/3 of the price. Tee boxes were in terrible shape with divots and mud everywhere. Fairways had its good patches but equally bad patches with no grass at all and flat and hard. Yes that's cool it's a Greg Norman designed course but the layout was nothing to write home about either, glorified dogleg holes with force carries on certain par 5's. Not a memorable hole now that I'm back home. The single positive is that the greens were in great shape and rolling true, but this is something to be accepted and standard for a course charging this much.
The course also packs their tee sheet as well so pace of play is an issue. After we finished 9 holes there was also another foursome who cut in front of us to start on #10, which slowed pace to a crawl on the back nine. This is just completely unacceptable at anywhere you play, with no course Marshall in sight to discourage this.
All in all, if the course gets some TLC all around, then maybe the tee time price is justified, but as of now, stay far away unless you can secure a hot deal on GolfNow ($58 on a weekday)
2nd time at the course
This is a great course with a good layout but pace of play was miserable today A foursome should not have to wait on a twosome. Greens were in good condition
First time playing, enjoyable.
Will play again. Playable for all skill levels. If walking, there is some distance between green and tee box.
