Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club
About
Sculpted by Greg Norman out of the tall grassland prairies and rice fields west of Houston, Meadowbrook Farms is part of a planned 800-acre residential development headed by Landmark National. Norman's layout includes deep-faced sod bunkers, Lil Prong Creek, and a multitude of oaks, pecans, and sycamores that take the golfer toward greens that are extremely hard.
The lack of parallel holes allows for an open, natural setting that is perfect for golf, especially since Norman didn't favor much reshaping-instead, he used the natural topography of the former rice farm.
Holes of note on the front are the 160-yard No. 6 and the 420-yard No. 9, both accented by the tall native grasses. No. 9 involves wetlands in front of the green, which is tough considering the longish approach.
Several holes on the back can destroy your round, including the narrow, doglegging 395-yard No. 10. It's imperative to find the fairway on this one. And No. 15 is short (340 yards), but is loaded with bunkers that are difficult for the high-handicapped hack.
The best hole of the bunch is perhaps No. 18, a 545-yarder that involves a layup of a canal off the tee and two solid shots to reach the green in regulation.
All told, this one is worth the investment. The bag drop service is friendly and prompt, and the clubhouse offers affordable amenities, including a great little bar and grill.
Getting there : From Downtown Houston on I-10, drive west to Grand Parkway (Hwy. 99). Take Grand Parkway south to Fry Rd., then turn right. Take Fry Rd. west for approximately 1.3 miles, and the entrance is on the left.

Meadowbrook A great Test
The course follows a stream / bayou weaving back and across bringing water and trees into play on most holes. You can find trouble off every tee, but there is usually an open side you can favor. The greens look fairly flat but they have pretty good breaks and were running fast and true.
Excellent Golf Course, Club House and Conditions.
The fairways and greens were in excellent condition!
Several amenities available to players provided by course... plenty of free ice & cups, ice cold scented towels at 10th hole tee box and plenty of water stations. Excellent club house locker room facilities with free towel service in showers. A definite country club feel for all patrons. I will be playing their again!
A great day with my daughter.
The greens were in good shape. The tee boxes need some work, not cleaned, not groomed well, and 80%of the markers were not set correctly. The gps is a little dated but gave good numbers. The staff was wonderful. All in all I'll, I'll be back with the golf now princes but not the standard prices.
Neigborhood course
Course was nice but just that
.
I never played Meadowbrook before so had to try it out.
For the money I would go back to Cinco Ranch that is in Excellent condition when I played there last week
Great Course
This was my first time playing this course and it was great! The course was in good shape.
nice course
It was challenging but not overly easy. Beautiful layout.
Meadowbrook Farms Starting To Slip?
I used to live in Katy and have played Meadowbrook Farms 25-30 times over the last 10 years or so. The greens were good not great, the fairways were very nice and the rough was challenging but fairly forgiving. It is still a high quality course but I no longer view it as pristine like I once did. And, in my humble opinion, for the price they charge it should be pristine.
The guys in the golf shop were adequate although they didn't volunteer any extra information and both the marshalls and the drink cart lady were great which was a nice change because I have played there when the marshalls were a little too aggresive in trying to keep each foursome on time.
All in all everything was pretty good experience although not quite at the level of Blackhorse which is in the same price range.
The Woody Steed
Using GolfNow was a breeze, being prepaid, only checked in at the proshop, and on the driving range in minutes. Course was in good condition. A challenging course with the rough up, alternating doglegs, with a few tight driving holes.
Good course, just a windy day
I have played Meadowbrook Farms several times in the past year. It is a somewhat challenging course with water and well-placed bunkers. The bunkers are being repaired at this time.
The greens are in great shape with plenty of subtle indentations.
The fairways are in good condition.
I would play here again.
Bunkers in desperate need to help
This course definitely has its challenges. But forget playing out of the bunkers. The greens seemed to play a little slow.
For the golf now weekday price it was definitely worth it. But the weekend price I'm not sure it is worth it.
Meadowbrook Farm
High price paid for average course, always felt rushed due to course marshal,s comments on pace time
Rained out
Rain rain rain , unable to play course. Normally well taken care of
Great Semi-Private Neighborhood Course
This is a semi-private neighborhood course and was in great condition. Norman makes you work the ball both ways. The bunkers need a little work due to the amount of rain that we have received lately, but it didn't ruin the round by any means. The girl working the counter that checked us in was very nice and personable, but you have to pay for old range balls, which was a little disappointing. Marshal's kept the pace of playing moving and we were able to get a round in 3-1/2 hours on a Saturday afternoon, which was nice. Stopped at snack bar after nine, but it appeared to be closed. Overall, I would definitely recommend this course at the discounted rate.
