Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club
About
Sculpted by Greg Norman out of the tall grassland prairies and rice fields west of Houston, Meadowbrook Farms is part of a planned 800-acre residential development headed by Landmark National. Norman's layout includes deep-faced sod bunkers, Lil Prong Creek, and a multitude of oaks, pecans, and sycamores that take the golfer toward greens that are extremely hard.
The lack of parallel holes allows for an open, natural setting that is perfect for golf, especially since Norman didn't favor much reshaping-instead, he used the natural topography of the former rice farm.
Holes of note on the front are the 160-yard No. 6 and the 420-yard No. 9, both accented by the tall native grasses. No. 9 involves wetlands in front of the green, which is tough considering the longish approach.
Several holes on the back can destroy your round, including the narrow, doglegging 395-yard No. 10. It's imperative to find the fairway on this one. And No. 15 is short (340 yards), but is loaded with bunkers that are difficult for the high-handicapped hack.
The best hole of the bunch is perhaps No. 18, a 545-yarder that involves a layup of a canal off the tee and two solid shots to reach the green in regulation.
All told, this one is worth the investment. The bag drop service is friendly and prompt, and the clubhouse offers affordable amenities, including a great little bar and grill.
Getting there : From Downtown Houston on I-10, drive west to Grand Parkway (Hwy. 99). Take Grand Parkway south to Fry Rd., then turn right. Take Fry Rd. west for approximately 1.3 miles, and the entrance is on the left.

Nice layout!
The course has a lot of interesting holes, and is fun to play from the senior tees. We played in a howling wind, so the pace of play was excellent!
Challenging course!!!
First time playing this course and I must say it was harder than I thought. Narrow fairways will make this course one that you need to be accurate of the tee or bring a lot of golf balls. Fairways were very hard and dry, probably for the time of year. Good deal if you buy a hot deal for $40 or less. I would not pay more than that.
Meadowbrook Farms
First off I loved the practice facility before my round and the staff was very friendly. The layout of the course was awesome. It really makes you use all the clubs in your bag and you can't just take driver off of every hole. The course wasn't in perfect shape but it is in the middle of February so that is to be expected. The greens were very consistent throughout the course. Overall a fun course and I will go back again.
Not the same quality course anymore
This used to be a premier daily play course. What I experienced today is not worth the greens fees. Fairways and tee boxes are hard packed and filled with divots. Sand traps have a lot of nickel sized rocks. The greens are horrible and you can count 4-5 old holes per green.
Pace of play was OK, but could have been improved by 20-30 minutes if the marshals would keep people on pace. I saw a five some, multiple people wearing jeans and carts playing music. Come on ! Is this how Greg Norman envisioned how this course would end up 10-15 years after inception? The worst part is that the GM was on the premises and allowed this poor atmosphere.

Course is in good shape.
Greens are fine, only reason I didn't give it an excellent rating is because the fairways were very thin.I'm sure that's due to the time of year,so looking forward to playing it in the spring. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Golf now price made it affordable.
Over Priced
I was a visitor to the area and found this golf course through a google search. I believe our group was taken advantage of by the people in the golf shop. It seems they thought they found some suckers that was not familiar with the area and normal green fees. We ended up paying $125 per person for 18 holes and $55 for a rented bag of clubs. The course was not in good shape as we were told and had dead spots all over the entire course. I have since moved here to the area and found out how ridiculous the fees we were charged. I will never play this course again and discourage anyone I meet from playing there.
Great layout but bring extra balls.
Love this course but greens needed cutting and were slow. The fairways were ok for this time of year. Long grass near fairways suck balls like a vacuum. lol Pace of play was slow because the 4some in front of us had 2 walkers. Other wise a great course and you cant beat it for $35 from GolfNow.
Not the $100 course they want it to be
Meadowbrook is a great layout and a fun, challenging course. However, it is not worth the around $100 they charge on weekends. If you get a Golf Now deal for $40 or under it's worth it. The day we went, they didn't even bother raking the bunkers. Most were washed over from rain a day or two before. Some of the boxes were very rough, and a bit overgrown. Not the premier course they think they are.
Katy Texas prairie golf
My first visit to Meadowbrook was really good!! Had lunch b4 round and had a delicious salad. Course was a nice mixture of open wind swept holes and tree lined tight holes. #10 -14 are perfect examples 10 is a short par 4 dog leg right tree lined 11 and 12 wide open holes around a lake while 13 and 14 again tree lined. Course was in good shape. Greens weren't as nice as other courses in area but definitely puttable #15 a short par 4 that needs some thinking about. Drive the green or lay up in a narrow fairway. Round ends on a par 5 # 18 that requires a layup short of ditch then into green. Disappointed that hole doesn't play into clubhouse but off to side and down the hill from it. Overall a fun day and would definitely return
This is a great course!
This was my first time playing this course. I truly enjoyed playing! Nice layout! Greens were fast. Considering the time of year, the fairways were in good shape. I really like the layout. I will play it again.
Great Course for the Money
Great layout and fast greens made for an enjoyable experience. Will definitely play again!!!
Great Course!
Would highly recommend this course to others. Played after a rain, but the course seems to drain well. Staff was very friendly and the food quite good.
Cart problems
Course was in good shape. Greens were a bit slow. My complaint is with staff. My cart ran out of juice on 16th hole. Had to walk last 21/2 holes. Afterward I went to pro shop to tell them about dead cart. Also told them I called main # to get some help on course. I got voicemail and voicemail box was full. Person on duty in pro shop was indifferent to situation and no apology was provided. Ironic thing is at beginning of round the cart person gave us the cart and said it was "freshly charged"
disappointing round, may not be back for a while
Meadowbrook Farms is usually one of the nicer courses in the Katy area. I've played it several times and enjoyed the round, but this time was disappointing. They close the driving range if a tear drop comes out of the clouds. So, I had no warm up for the round other than hitting a plastic wiffle ball in the grass by the parking lot. Not cool. Secondly, I don't think they've mowed the greens in two weeks. They were painfully slow and the speed of them threw off the putting of the whole group. The ball literally only went half as far as it normally would have on mowed greens. For the $75 I paid for the round and the $3.00 can of over priced diet coke I bought from the cart girl, I could have gone somewhere else.
Nice layout
Course was in fair shape. Greens were very slow. Heard they just re-seeded the greens. Greens need to be cut and rolled. Bunkers were unplayable. Bunkers were all washed out and not maintained. This could be a nice course with some maintenance.
Very nice golf course
The staff was very friendly and helpful we were from out of state and the course condition was great
Front nine are closed.
The course was in decent shape, well the back nine were. They had the front nine closed so we had to play the back nine twice. Really wish we would have known that up front!
Great Course
Played at Meadowbrook for the first time yesterday. Course was in great condition. Pace of play was great, played in just under 4 hours.
Fun course
The course was in pretty good shape although some of the greens had spots that were under repair. The fairway bunkers were also not in good shape due to heavy storms about 10 days prior. Overall, there is nice slope to the course and hazards placed along the fairway designed to make you either gamble or lay up. I think the greenside bunkers are well placed.
I do wish there were pictures of the holes either on the scorecard or as you approach the tee box. We had to rely on the cart GPS to tell us where some of the hidden hazards were. For the doglegs, you just have to hit it down the middle of the fairway and then figure out what hazards present themselves closer to the hole.
And while I indicate that pace of play was excellent, it should be noted that there was almost no one else on the course.

Davis, As the GM of the club I would like to clear up some confusion and make you an offer . As for what we charged you to play there is just now way that you paid $125 per person for green fee and cart. Our Point of sale system wouldn't even allow that to happen. In fact if you have a receipt that shows we charged you a $125 green fee per player I will give you a full refund. I am guessing what you paid for your green fee was about $59 . Then you paid $55 for rental clubs , which are top of the line clubs Cameron putter included , that package included two sleeves of ProV1 golf balls which are complimentary as well . We sell those in the golf shop for $14.50 per sleeve . So my guess is you more than likely paid a
$59 green fee
$55 for rental clubs and six complimentary golf balls
plus tax which would approach the $125 figure you threw out. As for the shape of the course it appears that you played here in June of last year right after our greens were air rated and only posted this review yesterday? I wish you had posted this or called me a year ago when it happened rather than carry this around for so long. We always appreciate timely feedback regarding any customer concerns.
