good shape for time of year
First time to play the course, since I am a 14 handycapper I had some problems hitting the ball off of the fairway, because of the season the grass is really short and the fairways are a little on the hard side. The greens are large and really super fast in my opinion, but they and the tee boxes are in excellent shape. Had a little difficulty finding our way around the course since this was the first time there. Scenery will be great this spring and summer, lots butiful homes around the course. Will play again.
Course and greens need attention!!
Course layout was difficult to follow. Signs posted, but not easy to follow. Greens on the front nine very hard and not very consistant...need to be watered daily!! Back nine in better shape, but still in need of watering. Most of the fairways very dry and hard also. Course had several elivated tee boxes with great views and plenty of wildlife for veiwing. Would not pay more than $15 to play this course with many other options in the Austin Area.
Good for the price.
Only $20 w/ fees on a Sunday! Saw several groups in front of my 3-some and thought it'd be slow, but turned out to be right at 4 hours. Fairways were fine. Greens were fast and grass looked like it was dead - cold weather? - but they putted like they always do, which is tricky. I've played here several times and still find it confusing finding I-35 from the course when I'm done. Overall, a great round of golf considering fees and on a weekend too!
Great views, with some elevated tee-boxes.
We had a hot-deal where 3 out of 4 of us played for $11, the 4th was charged $30, which was a real bargain. Course was empty on a Friday afternoon, which I didn't mind at all. The only negative was on the back side, where I think they are reconstructing some holes, it is a little confusing as to where the next hole is and a good drive between holes. Do not try to walk this course. But the drive between holes is worth it once you get there. Tee boxes, greens, and sand traps are in great shape. Fairways are thin and browning but it is December . I will be back
Cruel placement of sand traps!
Nice course; lots of trees and sand and gullies with some water in them. Course flooded bad a couple yrs ago and the result was the loss of some holes. As a result, the remaining holes are spread out strangely and are not clearly marked. We and at least 1 other party we ran into spent considerable time wandering around trying not to be totally lost. But greens and fairways in good shape. We had fun and will go back.
Still Reeling
I played here just after the big flood and it looked in many places like an F-18 flew over and strafed the area. They really had some challenges ahead. The disappointing part is it looks like no progress has been made at all. Maybe there are insurance problems, etc. Will be nice to one day see it back to normal at 27 holes. Other than that, pace of play was great and greens rolled really nice.
Greens need attention like WATER...
Sand traps are excel but greens need to be watered on reg
basis. They were very hard.....
I would never play this course without GolfNow
Mill Creek is nice in some areas and in poor shape in others. I don't believe the 69 rating for a course with all the par 3's over 180 yards. The first 9 holes needs work and better greens keeping. The back nine is in better shape and the greens more consistent. I don't believe anyone would pay the regular rate to play this course with so many better options within a 30 minute drive. The only reason we make the trip up is for a $15 or less GolfNow Hot Deal. That is about what this course is worth.
This course has some good features
I live nearby and realize the course has been hit hard by the floods in the last couple of years. Some areas needed attention but do understand it takes some time to get all the needed conditions completed. Overall, it was a pleasant outing and the staff were friendly...so were the patrons. I definately would play again.
Great Golf Course
Just North of Austin, Texas stands Mills CreeK Golf Club A course that truly rises to meet the best of its handsome lookong course, in famous Central Texas. This is perfect county golf course, and the perfect 18 hold layout . Great landscaping. From our oaks trees and creeks to rolling hills trees and ponds, It truely is a hidden wonder the
best golf course in this area.
The new holes were challenging
1st time in about 10 yrs I've played this course and it was in great shape. Played on a Sunday at 9:30 and seem to have course all to ourselves. The back 9 were new to me and a good challenge, a little confusing with the course lay out but we figured it out. Will be back again soon.
There are far worse ways to spend your day.
First off, make sure you have a good map and/or GPS to get you to Mill Creek. It's kind of back there and you have to know how to wind your way through the neighborhoods. Due to its location, I imagine that this course really doesn't get a lot of play. For that reason, it can make for a nice leisurely round. While there's a house here and there (as with most courses), I enjoy being away from the city life. It's nice to look around and not hear any traffic, not see any office buildings, and just take in the fresh air. I've only played it once or twice so I can't really comment on how well they keep the course. But for the lower pricing that you find on GolfNow, it just might be worth a long afternoon of driving, playing, and relaxing. There are far worse ways to spend your day.
