About
The best testament one can give The Golf Club of Texas (formerly known as The Golf Club of Texas at Briggs Ranch) is that it hosts some big local tournaments. The large greens and tee boxes are some of the very best San Antonio has to offer. This is truly a high end facility. If you have not been out to enjoy this course you really need to. The place is all greened up and with the unique landscaping it's just a real pretty experience with great golf. The golf carts are outfitted with GPS which gives accurate distance to the pin and shows the contours of the greens. This track combines Links Style golf with Hill Country golf, giving players a taste of both types of golf. The course is among the best that San Antonio has to offer. The senior staff is very experienced and the service is all that you would expect at a high-value public course. The new clubhouse is beautiful and features a full service restaurant. After playing a round, you will really enjoy just sitting on the porch and taking in the view.
Directions: 20 Minutes from downtown. Take U.S. 90 west to Texas 211 (2 exits past loop 1604) and we on the right. From downtown take 90 west to Texas 211.

Terrible terrible course
If you want a course that cares noticing about customer experience then this is your course. They will fully book during tournament play and leave paying golfers stranded without carts for hours. Don’t confuse this with the staff being bad. This is purely a management issue. It’s not like this is a one time issue either. THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE THAT THEY SEEM NOT TO CARE ABOUT.
The pace of play is horrendous even when tournaments are not present. Tee times booked extremely close together with multiple parties over 4 people on one hole. How does this happen? The fairways were hard as rock. Save your money. Do not come here.
No bathrooms are available on course.
Other than one twosome….
Great course. Greens in good hale for this time of year. Since the rough cleanup has been completed course plays great. It’s a challenge with typical South TX wind. But always seem to have that issue.
Pro shop has great offerings but seem to be a bit more premium prices than others. But it’s a well stocked pro shop.
Pace of play in the afternoon is SLOW. A twosome two holes in front of a 3 sum then our twosome made ice if okay beyond. Slow. They were playing 3 balls each and giving lessons to own another. Informed the Marshall but pace didn’t improve for the next 7 holes. Have encountered this before at the course. Seems like all the non-golfers show up in the afternoon ….just saying.
Price was kinda expensive also as they continue to up charge for their renovations they are doing. I guess that’s to be expected but will likely hold off playing it for
A while unless discount GF are offered.
Overall good shape for early spring. Some Tees boxes could use a little splash of water also. Seems VERY dry.
Yardage markers
Not one yardage marker or 150 pole on any of the holes. Don’t play without a GPS watch
Enjoy this course
Some challenging holes, if you play the forward tees gives you a great advantage, need this to keep up with the guys.
