Stone River Golf Club
About
Previously known as Aaki Ranch International Golf Course, Stone River Golf Club is a basic, homemade 18-hole track that opened in 1997, featuring rolling Bermuda pastures, manmade lakes, and young trees. Playing only 6,487 yards from the tips with minimal trees lining the fairways, you’ll be able to swing hard and let it rip.
Getting there : From Dallas, head east on I-30 for about 25 miles to exit 77B (FM35). Turn right at the stop onto FM 35, then continue about 1 mile. Turn right onto FM 2453 and drive another .5 miles. The golf course is on your right

bad time of year
hard to rate a course this time of year with the grass being in a dormant state.Feel like this as any course would present better in a more favorable season calendar wise
Potential to be a better track
I didn’t expect the course to be in phenomenal shape based on previous rounds, also given the fees. To my surprise the greens have gotten a little better. Some inconsistency in the roll from green to green but overall the best I’ve seen them. The tee boxes need a ton of work, the yardage markers aren’t reliable, and the fairways needed water. Pair this with a lack of “golfers” using the facility. Seriously people, fix your ball marks, divots, and for love of God - pick your feet up on the greens!
The course has potential to be so much better and I hope that they’ll be able to invest more money into it in the coming years. Until then this will be a last resort course when I’m looking to play.
Not enough carts!!!
It was an overcast/windy day. The course was typical---you get what you pay for. Greens rolled smoothly, fairways were dry/hard, and tee boxes needed some work---all par for most courses in the area. The wind was pretty stiff, maybe 15-20 mph making the course harder/easier to play depending on the hole.
Main thing is: They don't have enough carts. Or any organization re: groups. Granted it was a busier day due to the holidays but there were 3-4 groups ahead of us waiting to tee off #1---but couldn't---as they had no carts. They were all on course. So we waited for groups to finish, and grab their cart, and ultimately 4 groups ended up going out as 3 consecutive 5-somes (which predictably slowed play made even worse on a busy/windy day).
And the staff, the 2 guys working the clubhouse, seemed to have no way of controlling or changing the situation---they were just at the mercy--as we were---of other groups finishing to get out cart. They need more carts---obviously.
We finished---just as the sun set, but every group behind us didn't get 18 in which I'm sure they weren't thrilled with.
As a wise man once said "That's no way to run a railroad."
Holes to score
Some short par 4s and par 3s. Greens and tee boxes need some TLC. Overall a nice course to play
Stone River has rebounded
Always a fun round at Stone River. Happy to see the greens are back and better than ever. Well worth every penny
Pace of play what pace of play
First off hire a marshal who knows what they’re doing, don’t allow people to jump off the back 9 because they don’t want to wait on the first tee and lastly you don’t allow two threesomes of teenagers that have no clue how to play go out in front of reserved tee times and Jjack around and the marshal does nothing but apparently gives them a couple of warnings. I’ve played this course before and usually pace is not an issue but today was a joke and want be back no matter how good the hot deal.
Wide Open Fairways with Great Greens
Staff was excellent, facilities are in great shape. Fairways could use some work but layout is nice. Greens were in great shape. Great value. Would recommend to play.
Under repair
Many of the tee boxes and greens were under repair due to the winter storm, I assume. Other than that, course conditions were good. Its a nice place to score well
Staff jerk
Guy at desk the biggest %#^hole ever
I never write reviews ever but this guy was a real jerk
Stone River
Course was in good condition. Greens are grown in, a little thick and slower than other courses around the area. Pace was good , other than the twosome in front of us that could barely walk. I would play here again.
Great shape and price
They only have 2 temporary greens and even those were in good shape. The rest of the greens and fairways are really good and roll true. For $25 you cant beat it. Not sure why all the negative reviews lately but course was good.
