Stone River Golf Club
About
Previously known as Aaki Ranch International Golf Course, Stone River Golf Club is a basic, homemade 18-hole track that opened in 1997, featuring rolling Bermuda pastures, manmade lakes, and young trees. Playing only 6,487 yards from the tips with minimal trees lining the fairways, you’ll be able to swing hard and let it rip.
Getting there : From Dallas, head east on I-30 for about 25 miles to exit 77B (FM35). Turn right at the stop onto FM 35, then continue about 1 mile. Turn right onto FM 2453 and drive another .5 miles. The golf course is on your right

Poor layout
I found the course very confusing. No good markers as I played by myself.
Overbooked / stacked tee times
pulled up to stone river 20 min before my tee time only to find out there were no carts ready, maybe they’re all on the course whatever.. but then we finally get one after waiting 10-15 minutes, so we roll up to the first box only to find 3 groups of 4somes waiting to tee off at OUR tee time.. luckily everyone played fast and we finished before dark, but take your money and spend it elsewhere.. this course doesn’t care about tee times, they just let people do whatever they want, quite literally..
Course in great shape.
Greens are extremely fast, but overall course in good shape.
Course and pace good
Driving range only allows irons
GPS in carts would be nice improvement
Course is affordable and in good shape
Winter golf in Texas
Course in great condition for December golf. Very windy day made a few holes and greens challenging. Overall great day!
Good shape
Painted greens were in great shape. Nice layout for most holes
Getting better
The course seems to get better and better each time we play although there are many things from keeping them from being a good course: cart paths need a lot of repair work, tee boxes need to be on level ground multiple boxes very slanted, and the greens are pretty inconsistent but fair. This course is still just an “okay” course if there’s nothing else...
good deal if discounted
I would recommend if you can get a discount. It's pretty wide open fairways forgive bad drives.
If the area continues too grow, it could be a gem1
I live East of Dallas by LR Hubbard and found myself wanting to play and this was the only open location that fit my time frame. A challenging course with some holes requiring picking your angles in to the green. If they invested more in it, more would come and play it.
Getting Better
As Royce City grows the course is getting better. The staff is always great. The condition of the course is better every time I play. It is relatively short but neat lay out. There are somethings they could do to make it tougher with the rough. It is a definite play for the price.
Tee Times
The course overbooked today, and double booked our tee time. It’s the holidays, these things happen. I spoke to the course Marshal about it though, and he understood our concerns. Said they’re working to get better about it. We had to wait at the box a few times during play, but it was still enjoyable. I wish other golfers would fix their divots on greens and on fairways. Courses would stay in better condition if everyone would have better etiquette. I enjoy the yardage blocks at each tee box. Really nice little reminders. Would like to see more yardage markers closer to the holes (red, white, blue stakes and/or middle of fairway paint)
