About
Located just 15 minutes northeast of downtown Austin, ShadowGlen Golf Course is considered by locals to be one of the area's hidden gems. At 7,174 yards from the back tees, it is a long, tough course that will test even the most seasoned players. Some consider it to be the most difficult public golf course in Texas. The layout has a links design that is mostly flat but there are a few hilly spots that can cause some trouble, especially the holes that were designed with steep drops. The narrow fairways require accuracy and the well manicured greens play fast and are often bordered by strategically placed bunkers or contoured mounding. There are also water hazards coming into play throughout, including the wandering creek that cuts across the golf course.

Solid
Having played all the muni, premium public and a large number of the private courses around the Austin area, Shadowglen initially held a love hate relationship with me. It's tough and when the wind is blowing in Manor it's even harder. I have played this course extensively over the last 2 years and can quite happily say I think it's one of the best values for money in Austin for a round of golf. 15 minutes from downtown and they are always trying to improve the experience there. Great selection of draft beers
Good Course
Course is challenging and in decent condition.
Pace of play was slower than expected for an early morning start.
Enjoyable round!
Solid, all around
All in all a solid track. Layout was fun and challenging, and I definitely want to play it again. Greens better and roll more consistent than any in area I've played
Forgot to mow
Love this course the greens were perfect. The rough and tee boxes didn't match the quality of the greens. most of the tee boxes were trash either not mowed or divots and clumps of grass. The rough around the greens and in the fairway needs immediate attention. it's way overgrown and it wasn't wet at all, so it should be mowed.
I still love the course I hope next time the conditions are better.
Greens are thick but roll nice just slow. Hard track. Great place
Fair
I like Shadowglen, the layout is fairly challenging, with a good mixture of trees, water and elevation changes. The course was in fair condition, greens were somewhat slow, and fairways were also ok… both could use a little maintenance. The prices have gone up “post-COVID”, so I don’t play it as often. Before the price increase it was a fair value for the course conditions. In my opinion the course is not kept up well enough to match the increased fees. I will play the course again, when I find a good deal on GolfNow.
Great for the money
I booked my Tee time here on Golf Now, and received a good deal. For the $45 a person I paid this course was amazing. The staff was incredible and from the tips is was a decently challenging course. The layout was my favorite part, as it was absolutely beautiful. But I will say the course was not kept as well as it should in some areas. Outside that it was a great play, and would love to do it again!
Steppin it up
Moved back to Austin after a few years away and was absolutely stunned by the changes they've made here.. ShadowGlen is legit a premium public golf course again, The pro shop is hardly recognizable from last time I was there, they've tastefully updated the bar and patio and I think maybe new flooring inside? Had pleasant interactions with all the staff, and the golf course was just stunning this morning. Amazing to see this place start to reach its potential

I think by this point it’s widely known that this is a top public course in Austin and one of my favorite courses in Austin: the layout is fun, conditions are good, the range is great, very affordable if you play at right times - but staff really sets them apart I love the girls they have working there so sweet and friendly. Would get a membership in a heartbeat if I lived closer
